Amad had a poor end to the season for Manchester United, and the latest reports indicate his future could be in doubt.
Manchester United's focus this summer will undoubtedly be on rebuilding their midfield after Casemiro officially left the club at the end of the season. Manuel Ugarte looks set to exit Old Trafford, too, leaving two spots United need to fill this summer.
However, reports have indicated that United could sign as many as three midfielders this summer, with Kobbie Mainoo lacking a recognised backup.
United have already agreed a deal to sign Éderson from Atalanta, but that deal may not be completed until after the World Cup, given the Brazilian was a late call-up after Wesley's injury.
However, United will also have to focus on outgoings this summer. They will want to remove the players who are not good enough to challenge for the Premier League and compete in the Champions League.
United considers Amad sale
Amad had a poor season for Manchester United in 2025/26. The Ivorian netted just two goals and three assists for United last term, but appears to have found his form against Brighton.
The right-winger assisted Bryan Mbeumo's goal just before half-time in a brilliant play with Mason Mount, and also scored Ivory Coast's first goal of the World Cup against Ecuador.
However, Football Insider have reported that United have not ruled out selling Amad at the right price.
"Man United are looking to sign a natural wide player, a winger who can give them something they don't have," said former Chief Scout Mick Brown.
"When you look at the wide options they've got at the moment, they were playing Matheus Cunha, who isn't really a winger, and Bryan Mbeumo, who also plays up front.
"So they don't really have a natural winger who gives them something out wide like most of the trophy-winning clubs do at the moment."
On Amad, he said: "Amad Diallo is the one player at Man United who you would say is an out-and-out winger, but there are a few doubts about his role in the side.
"He was never quite able to establish himself in the starting XI, he's been in and out of the side, and if somebody else comes in that would only push him down the pecking order.
"From what I hear, Man United aren't ruling out letting him go as long as the price is right."
Will United force Amad out of the door?
If Amad left Old Trafford, United would be left with just Mbeumo and Lacey as right-wingers.
And let's not forget, in 2024/25, many considered Amad to be one of the best players at the club, with 11 goals and eight assists, largely from right-wing-back.
"They [United] won't be actively pushing to move him [Amad] on, I'm sure, because he is highly regarded there, but if somebody was to come in with a big offer, they would consider it," Brown continued.
"That would then allow them to bring in the top-level winger they're looking for, with the money from that sale."
It could take serious offer to see Amad leave United this summer. The report does not state what the "right price" would be, and given the current market, United could want as much as £80 million, if not more, for their wide player.
