Since Michael Carrick joined Manchester United in January of this year, it has been a big year for Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot, who has been one of the many players whose season has been revolutionised by Carrick, alongside Benjamin Sesko and Kobbie Mainoo.

Dalot has been at United one of the longest servants for the Red Devils in the squad, with only Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw being in the first team longer than him, showing his commitment to United, with him surviving through a plethora of different managers, with it looking like he has found his feet under Carrick.

Availability has not been an issue for Dalot this season, with him playing 34 times out of the possible 37 so far, starting 29 of them.

United's depth at Dalot's natural position, right back, has been a worry, with Noussair Mazraoui's injuries adding up this season, meaning United have had to rely on Dalot, and he has delivered when it mattered.

Interest is mounting up this summer for World Cup bound Dalot with some of the biggest clubs looking at the full back, with Bayern Munich and Real Madrid reportedly enquiring about being able to gain Dalot's services.

However, despite this interest, TeamTALK reports that Carrick is adamant, internally, that he does not want to entertain any possibility of selling him.

Dalot is said to be valued by the United boss as an important member of his squad next year, with the side preparing for European football upon finishing in the Champions League places this year.

Bayern Munich has had to play natural midfielder Konrad Laimer as their first choice right back, so a Dalot could solve their issue for next year, Real Madrid, to be soon managed by Jose Mourinho, could be looking for cover for former Liverpool man Trent Alexander-Arnold.

With Dalot being part of a United side that has struggled for years and constantly fell below expectations, he could be an important reminder to a United side that look on the up, especially to younger players, that not everything throughout the course of next season will be perfect.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons that Carrick is so keen to keep Dalot in the squad, as, respectively, he is not one of the best full-backs in the world, despite his improvements being vast this season.

His experience he has had around the club over the last eight years.

It is no surprise that United are going to have a busy summer, but it seems to be that a right back will not be United's priority with the club preparing to bring in midfielders, potentially another forward and a could look at a left back.
