Sources: Manchester United eye Premier League-proven attacker Iliman Ndiaye, prioritising him over pricier continental targets amid their midfield overhaul.

Who will be the FIRST player Man Utd sign this summer?

It's well known that Manchester United's current transfer priorities lie in midfield. With Casemiro leaving and Manuel Ugarte linked with an exit, the club are in dire need of reinforcements.

However, the club are also looking to strengthen in other areas, with another designated space for improvement being the left flank.

The club have been linked with several Premier League left-backs as well as options on the continent, and have also been touted as a club looking to sign a new left-winger.

While Amad and Bryan Mbeumo are on the right flank as attacking options and Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui sit further behind them in defence, the same level of quality depth does not exist on the left.

Ndiaye high on attacking shortlist

Since INEOS took over the club's football operations, there has been a general consensus to sign from within the Premier League to bolster their options in the most pressing positions.

As far as wanting to sign a new forward next summer goes, Roundtable understands that Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye is high on United's list of targets, although there is not yet a clear first-choice transfer target in that position.

While the Senegalese international has played more on the right than on the left this season, some within United's recruitment department prefer him to other options, such as Yan Diomande, due to his Premier League experience.

Diomande, although seen as a highly talented young winger, would also come with a hefty price tag, which some within the club feel may be too expensive, considering the club have other areas to focus on alongside bringing in another forward.

Roundtable have also been informed that Diomande is due to engage in talks with his current club, RB Leipzig, over a possible contract extension.

United must spend wisely this summer

Should United secure Champions League football, which they are very likely to if Michael Carrick's men can hold themselves in the top five across the remaining seven league games, the club will have plenty of cash to play with.

However, with so many of their key positions in high-demand areas across Europe this summer, they will have to be very careful with how they spend.

It's been reported that Nottingham Forest see Elliot Anderson, who is United's top midfield target, as a player who could go for over £100 million this summer.

With United wanting up to three new midfielders, a new left-back, and a new forward in the coming transfer window, the club may need to look for bargain over premium options in some positions.
