Amad Diallo has recently been linked to a move away from Old Trafford, and back to Sunderland after a mediocre third full season at Manchester United.

Amad... STAY or GO?

Amad has had by far and away his worst season in a Manchester United shirt this season, with only two goals and two assists in 30 matches. Despite still showing glimpses of good performances, it is clear the goals have been very hard to come by.

Last season, Amad was arguably United's most integral player prior to his injury, scoring crucial goals such as the winner against Manchester City and the equaliser against Liverpool, turning up when his side needed him most.

However, this season has been a complete drop off. Whether it is due to him becoming too familiar with Ruben Amorim's style of play that he is struggling to revert back to being alone on the right wing, he has really struggled.

The issue could also be that he has not responded well to the competition of Bryan Mbeumo, who for the most part of the season, has been the clubs top scorer.

This form, along with Sunderland securing their place in the Premier League for next season, has invited a potential return to the Stadium of Light this summer, where Amad had his best year to date.

Sunderland want Amad back

The Sunderland manager at the time of Amad's spell in the North-East was Tony Mowbray, who, in a recent interview relayed by The i Paper, waxed lyrical over the attacker's ability.

"When I got the call to manage Sunderland, it was out of the blue, so my thinking was simple: judge them on what they do on the training pitch.

"With Amad, the ball was just stuck to his left foot. No one could get the ball off him or get anywhere near him.

"He's that kind of player who can beat three men in a phone box, you know? I turned to my assistant, Mark Venus, and said, 'This kid is a genius. Why hasn't he been playing?"

Further, the i Paper states that, amid Amad's mixed form in recent weeks, Sunderland would make their pitch to re-sign the player should there ever be a chance of his exit.

The Black Cats have reportedly tried to bring the winger back to the Stadium of Light on multiple occasions, but to no avail. However, with United travelling to play Sunderland this weekend, he will return to his former ground.

Should Man United cash in on Amad?

United should not let Amad leave this summer. At just 23 years old, the Ivorian still has so much to offer, and he has already proven that he can do it in the Premier League and for United.

However, with the recent links to Sunderland and his undeniable connection to his old club, the possibility has to be entertained.

United could definitely profit from his transfer due to his high ceiling and proven pedigree in England. Furthermore, with the club eyeing up many wingers this season, such as Yan Diomande, Morgan Rogers and more, they may look to move him on.

On the other hand however, Man United have much bigger issues to worry about this summer, requiring full-backs, midfielders and potentially a winger regardless of what Amad does, therefore creating another hole to fill with Amad is not worth it right now.

Amad's career at United is certainly not over yet, nor is it safe, but if Michael Carrick is to stay for next season, he must get the best out of him for the benefit of the team.
