Nottingham Forest Women's Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has revealed the excitement in the squad after recording their first win of the season.
Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah was on target as Nottingham Forest Women beat Durham 2-1 on Sunday.
Forest went behind early on, but Boye-Hlorkah levelled things up in the 16th minute, and skipper Georgia Brougham was on hand to win it for the Reds in the second half.
It was Forest's first competitive win under new head coach Tom Mallinson, following draws against Ipswich Town and Watford which started the season.
Reflecting on the first win, Boye-Hlorkah revealed the excellent reaction in the camp, in an interview with club media.
"All of the girls are buzzing," she said, "It's a very hard place to come, but today we came away with the win.
"It was a scrappy performance, but it always is up here, and we came off better so I'm happy.
"I hate to concede goals and luckily enough I have confidence in myself to take a shot on. Seeing the keeper, she was a little bit off her line, I didn't know if it would go in but it ricocheted off her back.
"I'm loving it, and I'm loving the confidence that the team are giving me, I've got to keep building and building, helping the team with as many goals and good performances as I can to help reach our goals."
Winner can boost Brougham
Brougham is not often amongst the goals, but the squad know that she has plenty in her, when the right moments arise.
Boye-Hlorkah revealed her hopes that the defender's winner at Durham can serve as a confidence boost for her.
"It was massive," she insisted. "She always gets them little goals, she's always in and around the box on set plays.
"She's a threat and I was watching it go over, and it was a good goal for her to score, for her confidence as well, and the team."
All eyes on Villa
Forest have a short turnaround, as they will host Aston Villa in the Subway Players' Cup on Wednesday, and attention has already turned to that fixture.
Boye-Hlorkah revealed her hope that Sunday's win can serve as a boost ahead of a tough game against the WSL side, who are winless so far this season.
"I think we can go into that game with confidence," she said, "Especially with the way we're playing our football, and the connections that we're building with each other. I think against a top side, like Villa, we can really test them and show what we're about."
