Player ratings as Nottingham Forest beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in the Reds' penultimate pre-season friendly.

Arnaut Kalimuendo scored at the death as Nottingham Forest beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in their penultimate pre-season friendly.

Forest carried plenty of control, and the visitors' equaliser was one of only a handful of moments of vulnerability.

It was a goal that shows the work still needed to adapt to an Oliver Glasner system, but the Austrian has made no secret about that.

He's asked for patience, after insisting at his unveiling last month that it could take his squad "three to six months" to adjust properly.

Here is a look at how Forest's stronger XI fared in the first half of action at the City Ground.

First-half Nottingham Forest player ratings

Matz Sels (GK) - 5/10: Was let down by the defence for the equaliser, but was equally caught in no man's land, allowing Schick to chip him from close-range.

Ousmane Diomande - 6/10: Overall looked very calm, especially for someone who touched down in the United Kingdom three days ago. Could arguably have done more for their goal, but it was Milenkovic who was the wrong side of his man.

Nikola Milenkovic - 4/10: Did not do much wrong, but completely lost his man for the equaliser, which is impossible to look past.

Murillo - 6/10: A good performance, but nothing extraordinary. Often deployed very high up, a byproduct of Glasner's system. Did his job well though.

Ola Aina - 6/10: Still looks like he is adjusting to life as a wing-back, and he has a lot to prove with Eric Da Silva Moreira looking better with each passing game.

Xaver Schlager - 7/10: Another really impressive showing from the new recruit, and his first-time looping ball in the build-up to Dan Ndoye's goal was truly special.

Ibrahim Sangare - 6/10: A solid performance from Sangare, like usual. Perhaps not standout, but certainly not sub-par by any means!

Neco Williams - 7/10: Was a regular threat down the left-hand side, but assumed his defensive responsibilities excellently too, producing a crucial block to deny what looked a certain goal.

Dan Ndoye - 8/10: A constant threat across the entire front line, but sublime positioning and technique for his goal. A very encouraging performance.

Morgan Gibbs-White - 8/10: Was integral in most things good for Forest, and constantly tried to make things happen. Lovely cross to assist Dan Ndoye for the opener.

Igor Jesus - 6/10: Held the ball up very well for the most part, but wasteful at times and lacked end product, whether that be a shot or pass.
