Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of a talented young Irish forward.

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the arrival of 18-year-old forward Michael Noonan from Shamrock Rovers.

Noonan and the club have formalised his deal, but will not officially link up with Forest until January 2027.

Shamrock Rovers are currently second in the Irish Premier Division, behind St Patrick's Athletic on only goal difference.

Noonan has played an integral role for the Irish side, contributing seven goals so far in the the current league season.

The youngster has also made five appearances in Europe, including becoming the UEFA Europa Conference League's youngest-ever scorer, after his goal against Molde in February 2025.

He is also a regular feature for Republic of Ireland U21s, for whom he also holds the record for youngest-ever goal-scorer.

Noonan is, at least initially, expected to join Forest's B Team.

Forest's Chief Football Officer, George Syrianos, praised Noonan, and highlighted the work of the club's academy to attract such talented youngsters.

“Michael is a player we, along with a number of other clubs, have followed closely for some time, so we're delighted he has chosen Nottingham Forest," he said.

“Recruiting high-potential young players is central to our long-term vision for the academy. We want the academy to be a genuine pathway to the first team, and that means bringing in the right talent early and giving them a clear, individual plan to get there.

"Michael’s decision reflects the work Chris, Andy and everyone involved has put into developing and then sharing what that pathway looks like here.

“We look forward to welcoming Michael and his family to Forest and to supporting his development in the years ahead.”
