Nottingham Forest have this morning confirmed the appointment of Oliver Glasner as the club’s new head coach.

Oliver Glasner has been unveiled as Nottingham Forest’s new head coach following last week’s dismissal of Vitor Pereira.

Pereira was relieved of his duties on Trentside last Thursday, July 2, after news emerged of a break clause allowing Forest to end his contract early, if triggered before June 30.

The Portuguese head coach was informed that the clause had been triggered, via email, just two minutes before its expiry.

News quickly circulated that Glasner was the club’s chosen successor, and that a deal had already been agreed for the Austrian’s arrival.

Glasner had been under consideration for a City Ground move several years ago, but it did not materialise then.

Most recently, he became Crystal Palace’s most successful manager of all time, winning an FA Cup, Europa Conference League and FA Community Shield title.

Glasner left Selhurst Park at the end of June, after refusing to sign a new contract, and had been linked with the once-vacant AC Milan managerial role.

But the Italian giants instead opted for former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim, clearing the path for Glasner to join Forest.

Following confirmation of his arrival, Glasner spoke passionately to club media about his pride and ambition.

“I’m delighted to join Nottingham Forest as head coach,” he said.

“From my very first conversations with the owner and the leadership team, it was evident to me that they have a clear vision for this football club and complete trust and belief in me and my staff to build a strong future together over the long term.

“That trust and shared commitment, together with the potential that I see within the squad, were key factors for me and I am excited about what we can achieve together.

“Nottingham Forest is a club with incredible prestige and history, a two-time European Champion with one of the most passionate fan bases in football. Our aim is to build a team that can help take the club to the next level in the years ahead and that our supporters can be proud of.

“My immediate focus is on meeting the players and staff and getting to work as we begin pre-season. I’m excited for the future and will work tirelessly to represent this great club with pride and to bring success on the pitch. I can’t wait to get started.”

It has been widely reported that Glasner will earn in the region of £250k per week at Forest, making him one of the Premier League’s highest-paid managers.

His appointment signifies a new era for Forest, just days after Elliot Anderson’s exit, with Glasner set to lead an important new dawn on Trentside.
