Confirmation of a big double injury blow for Nottingham Forest ahead of their game against Aston Villa.

Nottingham Forest have suffered a major double injury blow ahead of their game against Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon.

After a challenging start to the season, Forest are looking to get their first competitive win under Oliver Glasner, after positive recent performances resulted in draws against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite an uplift in form, Forest's record at Villa Park is bleak, at a positive result was always going to be a challenge to walk away with.

But after news of a double injury blow shortly before kick-off, overturning their torrid recent form away to the Villans will be an even tougher task.

When the Reds' lineup to face Villa was announced, there were two key omissions: Jair Cunha and Nikola Milenkovic.

The centrebacks have so far started every game for Forest in the Premier League this season, making their exclusion both surprising and concerning in equal measure.

Speaking ahead of kick-off, Forest head coach Glasner confirmed that the pair have sustained hamstring injuries in training on Friday.

"Both got injured in yesterday's training session," the Austrian confirmed.

"They finished the session and then I was sitting and having lunch and then our doctor came and said 'they both feeling tightness in their hamstrings' and then we did some scans and unfortunately both [they] are injured - that's why they can't make the game today.

"So, it was really, you always think you have experienced everything in football and, but always new challenges coming up!"
