Oliver Glasner has told Roundtable about his excitement to lead Nottingham Forest out at the City Ground for the first time this week.
On Wednesday, Oliver Glasner will lead Nottingham Forest out at the City Ground for the first time as the Reds' head coach.
The Austrian is no stranger to the City Ground, having managed Crystal Palace away from home against Forest three times.
He will be hoping to enjoy as much better record at the City Ground as Forest boss, however, with a defeat and two draws, one against 10 men, a stain on his otherwise impressive managerial record.
Forest's seven pre-season friendlies so far have been away from home; one a stone's throw away at Meadow Lane, before four in Portugal and two in Italy at the weekend.
Next, they return to the City Ground for games against Bayer Leverkusen and Stade Brestois, on Wednesday and Sunday respectively.
Speaking to Roundtable in Udine following the Friuli Venezia Giulia Cup, Glasner spoke of his excitement to see his side back in front of the Forest faithful.
"I'm very excited," he revealed, "Especially when I see the group of players and how hard they're working in every training session and when I see the progress we've made."
He also reiterated a request to supporters, as he once again asked for patience. Glasner insisted that his side are progressing, but stressed that some time is needed to reach the required level, especially with some players arriving late after the World Cup.
It comes after he revealed that it could take three to six months for players to adjust to such a significant change in system, when speaking at his unveiling last month.
"It's not shown by the results yet, and I also want to ask for patience, because we're still at the beginning. A few players like Dan [Ndoye] have only been with us for five days; Ibrahim Sangare was away for 12 or 13 days, so it will take a little bit of time.
"But the work ethic and the atmosphere at the training ground are absolutely top, and it gives me a lot of confidence that we will be where we want to be.
"And it's great now to play the first game at the City Ground, against a top side like Bayer Leverkusen, and this is exactly what we need; top opponents to be ready for the Premier League."
There are still plenty of tickets available for the Reds' pre-season games this week, for fans wanting to be there for the club's final preparation ahead of the Premier League opener against Leeds United in less than two weeks.
