Read Oliver Glasner's thoughts after a frustrating return to Selhurst Park, where Nottingham Forest lost 3-1 against Crystal Palace.
Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner has hailed his side's "best performance of the season" despite suffering a 3-1 loss against Crystal Palace.
Forest dominated large spells of the game, but failed to build on their one-goal lead, which offered the Eagles a route back into the game before halftime.
Not only did they equalise, but Jefferson Lerma put Palace ahead in the fourth minute of added time, giving the hosts a lead seconds before halftime.
Forest continued to find plenty of joy in the second half, but it was Palace who netted in the second half, as Yeremy Pino extended their lead midway through the half.
Despite enduring what ended as a relatively heavy defeat, Glasner hailed what he saw as the Reds' "best performance of the season," and suggested that his history with Palace is to blame for the defeat.
"It's probably the oldest rule in football: the goals you don't score, you concede," Glasner cited, "And it felt like that.
"I think we played by far our best 40 minutes of the season, I think in total this was our best performance of our entire season.
But, again, if you don't score from all those chances [you may regret it], but there's nobody to blame because the effort was massive.
"Even at 3-1 down, the players tried and tried and tried, and everybody created chances.
"Of course, at 3-1, after we could have made it 2-2, there was a little dip in confidence and belief, but the players tried again, like Chris Wood's big chance, but I spoke to him; he's not to blame.
"I have no explanation [for the missed chances], because the quality of the players is so good, also in converting, and I see this every single day.
"So my explanation for this: it's just me who is to blame for it. I think I didn't deserve to win at Selhurst Park today after two years together [with Palace]."
