Nottingham Forest have confirmed who will make up Oliver Glasner’s coaching team.

Just days after it was announced that Oliver Glasner was Nottingham Forest’s new head coach, the club have confirmed details of his coaching team.

Glasner arrived on Trentside last week, replacing the outgoing Vitor Pereira just months after he joined the club.

Pereira was relieved of his duties at the end of June after the club triggered a clause allowing them to terminate his contract before the end of the month.

The decision was met by a mix of confusion and annoyance, but as plans to appoint Glasner were quickly revealed, supporters were, mostly, back on side quickly.

Now, as the squad prepare to return for pre-season training next week, Forest have confirmed the members who will join Glasner’s coaching team.

Assistant head coaches

Emanuel Pogatetz and Michael Angerschmid have both been appointed as assistant head coaches to Glasner, both following him from his previous role at Crystal Palace.

Pogatetz is a fellow Austrian and represented his nation 61 times from 2002 until 2014. He also spent six years playing in England; five with Middlesbrough before a brief loan to West Ham three years later.

He has worked with Glasner since joining the south London side alongside Glasner in February 2024.

Angerschmid has a much deeper connection to Glasner. The duo both came through SV Ried’s academy at the same time, and went on to play alongside each other for 14 years at the Austrian club.

He has served as an assistant to Glasner since his second managerial job with LASK, all the way back in 2015, and has followed his compatriot ever since.

Assistant coach

Michael Berktold has been appointed as assistant coach, having also followed Glasner from Palace.

As well as at Palace, Berktold previously worked with Glasner at both LASK, and later VFL Wolfsburg, before taking up a role with RB Salzburg when Glasner joined Eintracht Frankfurt, before reuniting at Palace.

Transition coach

James Holland is one of the newer members of Glasner’s coaching set-up, but his history with the Austrian is not.

Holland, a 17-time Australian international, previously played under Glasner for two years at LASK, from 2017 until 2019.

After retiring from playing in 2024, Holland joined Glasner’s coaching staff at Palace, and became an important figure who specialises in player development.

Goalkeeping coach

Michael Gspurning is new to Glasner, but has considerable experience, including working with the Austrian national team as a goalkeeper coach.
