Everything you need to know before Nottingham Forest take on Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Nottingham Forest travel to Selhurst Park on Sunday to face Crystal Palace in a return to Premier League action.

After defeat last time out at home to Coventry City, Forest will be desperate to get back on track with a positive result in south London.

For Oliver Glasner, the match will be something of a homecoming, as he returns to the club where he won the UEFA Conference League, FA Cup and FA Community Shield, but there will be little room for sentiment for the new Forest boss.

Before the shock Coventry defeat, the Reds had been steadily improving game by game, whereas new Palace boss Pierre Sage is reportedly already under pressure at the club.

Forest team news

Forest have three players sidelined for this game, with a fourth doubt, giving Glasner plenty to consider with his team selection.

Nikola Milenkovic (bone bruise) and Igor Jesus (calf) are both confirmed new absentees, with the former getting re-injured after recovering from a previous hamstring issue over the international break.

"Nikola Milenkovic returned from an injury, played in the friendly and was all good," Glasner confirmed, "But then he got a bone bruise in a duel and will miss the game. It's very painful, and he can't train.

"And the other [injured player] is Igor Jesus, who has a muscle injury in his calf, and he will be out for a few weeks it looks like, which isn't what we wanted."

They join Nicolo Savona, who has been a long-term absentee, as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury, which has included a setback earlier this season.

But Neco Williams may also miss the game, having been absent from training on Friday due to illness, with a late decision understood to have been taken on his potential involvement.

"He returned well and was good, he trained with us yesterday, but he didn't feel well, then he got a fever overnight, so he was not available [for training] today," Glasner said on Friday. "Let's see how he recovers until tomorrow."

Predicted Forest XI

Matz Sels; Jair Cunha, Ousmane Diomande, Murillo; Daniel Muñoz, James McAtee, Ibrahim Sangare, Neco Williams; Dan Ndoye, Morgan Gibbs-White; Liam Delap

Opposition insight

We spoke to Roundtable's Crystal Palace publisher, Henry Swain, who offered some expert insight into Sunday's opponents.

Q1: What's the mood in the Palace camp after a slow start to the season?

A1: It's been a slow start, but that was somewhat expected considering a new manager coming in, but also the number of players that we had at the World Cup.

The performances haven't necessarily been as bad as the results suggest, but defensive errors and a slow adaptation to the demands of the new system have definitely had an impact.

Q2: How have changes over the summer impacted Palace so far this season?

A2: The biggest changes over the summer were the departures of Maxence Lacroix and Daniel Muñoz, two players who were key under Glasner.

Replacing Muñoz has been easier than expected, as Anan Khalaili has come in and looked fantastic. In terms of Lacroix, his leadership and calmness has definitely been missed, and the back three has been changed consistently throughout the start to the season.

The other big difference, of course, is Pierre Sage. Whilst the system is built on the same formation that was played under Glasner, the style of play is much different, favouring possession and fast counter pressing.

The players have definitely been taking some time to get used to it, but it appears that's starting to happen now.

Q3: What should Forest expect from this Palace side?

A3: Forest should expect defensive instability but also intense pressing, with lots of chances created but not necessarily, at least so far, the conviction to take those chances.

The addition of Quinten Timber has added a huge amount of intensity to the Palace midfield, and Khalaili essentially operates in the same role as Muñoz did so well for us.

Q4: How do Palace differ under Sage than how they played under Glasner?

A4: As mentioned earlier, the style under Sage is far more possession focused, with smart passing patterns used to gain territory, and intense counter-pressing when the ball is lost.

Our games so far have tended to be very end-to-end, which is no real difference to that under Glasner, but it does feel like there are more chances being created under Sage.

Q5: Where will the game be won and lost from a Palace perspective?

A5: The midfield battle is key for this game. Adam Wharton has not had the best start to the season, and doesn't look quite himself, with Timber doing a lot of heavy lifting in that department.

This could be a key area of the pitch, where the Palace pair have to face up against Forest and attempt to dominate in order to keep Palace on the front foot.

Q6: Predicted line-up?

A6: Walter Benítez; Anan Khalaili, Jaydee Canvot, Chris Richards, Honest Ahanor, Tyrick Mitchell; Adam Wharton, Quinten Timber; Yeremy Pino, Jørgen Strand Larsen, Ismaila Sarr
