Sean Dyche has lifted the lid on the end of his Nottingham Forest tenure.

Sean Dyche has admitted frustrations over the manner in which he lost his job as Nottingham Forest head coach earlier this year.

Dyche was dismissed in February, following a disappointing tenure which spanned just 114 days.

Bought in to steady the ship and steer Forest away from the relegation zone, a change was made as Forest continued to dance perilously close to the bottom three, when the stakes could not have been higher.

Forest actually only lost one of Dyche's last five games in charge, but a lacklustre goalless draw at home to Wolves, who were ultimately relegated by some margin, proved the final straw for his sacking.

In that game, the Reds did everything except score, boasting 35 shots against the now-Championship side, amassing 2.55 expected goals despite failing to find a breakthrough.

Speaking on The Overlap, Dyche used this figure as evidence that, contrary to speculation, he had not 'lost the dressing room' at the end of his tenure.

"No [I didn't lose the dressing room], you hear it all the time," he insisted. "At the end of the day, if the dressing room's gone, which is a silly phrase anyway, although to be fair I've witnessed it myself, not my teams necessarily.

"But, my last game, you can't have 35 efforts on goal if the dressing room's gone, you can't do that.

"The hardest thing to do, and Jamie [Carragher] knows this, as a manager is to say 'Go on then, stick it in the net', that's the bit you can't do, they [the players] have to do that.

"It was an anomaly, I think the stat was that it's only happened twice in the Premier League where there were that many attempts on goal and a team didn't win, because we drew, obviously.

"To lose your job over that, it's frustrating when people are making up all these rumours. But that's just football now."
