A headed effort from Oumar Solet confined Nottingham Forest to a narrow opening defeat as Udinese won 1-0.
It was a heavily rotated Forest XI against an almost full-strength Udinese side, with the Reds able to take positives from the performance.
But ultimately, a lack of creativity proved to be their downfall, as the hosts capitalised on a set-piece to take the three points.

John Victor (GK) - 7/10: Handled everything with a reassuring calmness, with several important saves. Positioning not great for the goal, but it was a defender who should have got to it, and even had he been in his goal, the header looked destined for the net.
Eric Da Silva Moreira - 6/10: Great work rate, often switching with Luca Netz on the opposite flank.
Zach Abbott - 7/10: Some strong, important challenges in and around the box.
Ryan Yates - 6/10: Did not do too much wrong, especially playing outside of his usual domain.
Morato - 6/10: Did not stand out but did not do too much wrong.
Luca Netz - 6/10: Like Da Silva Moreira, showed good work rate, and offered a fair bit going forward too.
Xaver Schlager - 7/10: Looked really comfortable on the ball and offered plenty. A lot to like in his first appearance in front of supporters.
Nicolas Dominguez - 6/10: A solid showing, but nothing special.
Callum Hudson-Odoi - 6/10: Some good hold-up play and a regular threat, created plenty but clear that he's only just back from a spell out.
Arnaut Kalimuendo - 5/10: Missed a huge chance from point-blank range early on.
Dilane Bakwa - 5/10: Some bright moments despite being a late addition to the line-up, but seriously lacked end product. A reason he was initially on the bench of the weakened XI.
