Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira is set to stay at the club despite earlier links with a move back to Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, Vitor Pereira will not be pursuing a return to the Saudi Pro League, despite earlier reports which linked him with a move to Al Hilal.

Pereira only joined Nottingham Forest in February, after Sean Dyche was dismissed as the club stared down the barrel of potential relegation.

The Portuguese Head Coach worked wonders on Trentside, helping guide the Reds to a Europa League semi-final as well as ensuring Premier League survival with two games to spare.

Although the aforementioned European semi-final, Forest’s first since 1984, ended in heartbreak, it was a reminder of the ambition of the club and its owner, Evangelos Marinakis.

To realise that ambition, the club will also need to establish stability. The four managers that they went through this season was a wholly unsustainable period, and there is no desire in the club to continue that trend.

Talks had been opened over a new contract for Pereira, after successfully steering Forest away from relegation, with his current deal set to expire next summer.

But Ben Jacobs has reported that those talks are not set to progress until after the summer, with both parties content to see how the side start the 2026/27 season before making a decision on Pereira’s long-term future.

Despite that, Pereira remains absolutely committed to Forest, and has no intention of walking away, as he remains totally fixed on achieving success on Trentside.

Speaking on his own future towards the end of the Premier League season during a press conference, Pereira spoke of the importance of results, which makes even more sense after the latest development.

“I believe we can do a five-year contract, but after a few months, if you don’t have the results, the project will finish,” he insisted.

“We need to work day by day, believing in what we are building together. I know because we start our work together for next season.

“I know the club wants to make another contract with me, but in the end it’s about the results.”
