Sunderland star Granit Xhaka sits in the top ten Premier League players so far this season in terms of total distance run.
Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong tops the list with a staggering 60.4km total run, with the Black Cats skipper in eighth place on 56.8 km run, according to the Premier League's data.
Considering that Xhaka turned 34-years-of-age in September, it shows the calibre of athlete that the Swiss veteran is, and how imperative he has been to the Black Cats' prospects so far this season.
With Xhaka withdrawing from the Switzerland squad due to his vaccine certificate saga, the ongoing international break will offer the midfielder a welcome rest after his goliath graft in the opening stages of the season.
