Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a huge double move on Manchester City’s Savinho and Omar Marmoush. Both have received Fabrizio Romano's well-known "Here we go" signal, which could, in one go, alter Roberto De Zerbi's attacking effectiveness.
Savinho's transfer to Tottenham has reached a verbal agreement with City. The Brazil international is expected to cost Spurs £75 million upfront, with a further £ £ 10 million in potential add-ons, for a total of £85 million, and now Marmoush has followed.
The Egyptian international will join on loan, with the agreement also including a £ 50 million purchase option that must be activated if specific conditions are met. Marmoush has already agreed to the transfer and is expected to undergo his medical examination on Monday.
Savinho was not in Enzo Maresca's matchday squad on Sunday during their 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, although Marmoush was included in the list of substitutes and remained an unused substitute. The Brazilian winger’s absence was because a move had finally been agreed with Spurs.
Tottenham has not yet confirmed the deal publicly; medicals and the other administrative work still need to be completed, but it’s widely expected that both men will be officially announced as new Tottenham players on Monday ahead of the club's opening home fixture of the season against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.
Savinho had asked to leave Man City this summer to join Tottenham; the Brazilian has been seen across Instagram liking multiple Tottenham Hotspur-related posts, including those from first-team players. Without publicly announcing his wish to move to North London, it’s been very telling of his desire. This will go down well with the fan base, as Savinho is seen as a player who fits the Tottenham Hotspur way and will get them off their feet this season.
Savinho is capable of stretching opponents from the right and left-hand side, whereas Marmoush poses a vertical threat by making runs beyond the defensive line; this kind of space is the one that De Zerbi would like his technical midfielders and forwards to exploit between the lines.
Both players offer versatility across the front line, which will also help the fluidity of the Italians head coach's playing style.
Omar Marmoush has been highlighted by Alistair Gold of Football.London as someone whom Roberto De Zerbi highly rates and was desperate to bring to North London this summer. Several Tottenham reporters, including Paul O’Keefe, highlighted how “buzzing” the Italian is with the two impending signings.
