Micky van de Ven believes that Luca Williams-Barnett is the most naturally talented player at the entire club following his step-up to Tottenham's first team.
Luca Williams-Barnett has taken the Premier League by storm this week following his debut during Tottenham's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend.
The 18-year-old is the latest breakout star in the top flight following an impressive six-minute cameo against Palace.
The winger came close to getting an assist on his debut after beating two defenders to pick out Mohammed Kudus at the back post, who spurned a great chance.
Now, Roberto De Zerbi has just revealed that he has great trust in Williams-Barnett, and suggested that he is in contention to start games for Spurs.
Steven Gerrard is already backing Williams-Barnett to become a real star at Tottenham, despite watching him just once.
Speaking ahead of Spurs' trip to Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime, Van de Ven has been speaking about Williams-Barnett's immense talent.
Micky van de Ven says Luca Williams-Barnett is the most talented Tottenham player
Out of all the players at the club, Van de Ven says there is no one more naturally talented than Williams-Barnett.
The Spurs captain believes that it's clear to see how good he is on the ball during training, and it's so impressive for his age.
Van de Ven is also backing his new teammate to have an impact not just in the future, but also this season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Van de Ven said: "Luca Williams Barnett, he just joined the first team football player so I think a lot of like quality will come from him maybe this season maybe in upcoming years he’s so young someone with a lot of potential.
"You see what he brings in the training, like the quality on the ball is ridiculous. So what he can bring for us in the upcoming years.
"You always need to work for it and keep training hard, but I think he can be a special player. His ceiling can be really high."
It's crazy to think how much recognition the winger is already receiving from his teammates at such a young age.
The teenager was spotted in training on Friday ahead of the team's trip to Elland Road on Saturday.
Meanwhile, De Zerbi also rates him so highly and even considered starting him away at Chelsea last month.
Luca Williams-Barnett should be starting vs Leeds
There is little reason as to why Williams-Barnett should not be starting away at Leeds on Saturday.
With Savinho out and Mathys Tel, the main left winger, there is a place up for grabs for the teenager.
The 18-year-old starting at Elland Road would send a strong message from De Zerbi and would give the away fans a massive lift.
Williams-Barnett's run and cross in the game against Palace prove he already has the self-belief to be starting games for Spurs.
Tottenham's attack has struggled for goals so for this season; however, Williams-Barnett could be like a new addition to the team.
Meanwhile, Savinho, Wilson Odobert, Xavi Simons and Mykhailo Mudryk's return from injury should not impact his minutes either.
De Zerbi should now be looking to trust the teenager over the coming weeks and look to prioritise his development as a player.
