Could the “bomba” finally have been revealed? David Ornstein of The Athletic has reported that the club is advancing on a dual deal to sign Manchester City’s Savinho and Omar Marmoush.
On Wednesday evening, Ornstein said that talks are advancing between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City regarding both players. Although no agreement has still been reached yet, Spurs are currently making an effort to secure the 22-year-old Brazilian winger and the 27-year-old Egyptian forward as two major additions to Roberto De Zerbi’s attacking options.
Should both men be secured, then the club’s attacking options could dramatically improve in North London. As has already been reported, the ideal way for Spurs to close out the transfer window is to sign three different types of attacker: Savinho as a wide player, either Cody Gakpo from Liverpool or some other player who can play on the left wing, and a more natural goalscoring centre-forward. Marmoush had already become one of the players being considered for that central position.
Sky Sports has since confirmed that discussions regarding both Savinho and Marmoush are advancing, though an agreement has still not been reached. Importantly, Savinho is willing to join Tottenham and has asked to leave the Etihad this summer for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The financial obligation involved would be huge. The Telegraph says that Tottenham are currently considering a dual move costing £140 million, whereas other reports suggest that Manchester City's estimate of the two players is nearer £150 million. According to The Times, City are willing to part with both of them, with Savinho valued at about £85 million and the club expecting to get more for Marmoush than the £59 million they paid Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025.
Savinho is the kind of player that Tottenham and De Zerbi have been looking for, thanks to his versatility and ability to play on both wings. He is at ease in receiving the ball close to the touchline and can operate from either side, while his speed and one-on-one skills will enable Spurs to stretch the opposing defence before moving into the spaces formed inside. Mohammed Kudus also possess the same versatility and ability, which could form a dangerous tandem behind a number nine.
That number nine could be Egypt’s Omar Marmoush. The Egyptian international is capable of playing in a central role, on the left side, or alongside another striker, providing Tottenham with mobility rather than being a static presence in the penalty box.
According to The Standard, Marmoush has now decided to leave City to secure more playing time, with several believing regular game time will bring out the best version of Marmoush and bring back the player seen in Germany with Frankfurt.
