The Euro 2024 Golden Boot winner emerges as a versatile target for Roberto De Zerbi, offering tactical flexibility and clinical finishing to bolster Spurs’ evolving summer rebuild.
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly added Villarreal forward Georges Mikautadze to their list of attacking targets, with Roberto De Zerbi still searching for 2-3 more signings before the summer transfer window closes.
In recent weeks, Spurs have been linked with several big-name attacking players, such as Manchester City’s Savinho, Omar Marmoush, Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi, and Barcelona’s Ferran Torres. Now, Georgia international Mikautadze has also entered the conversation.
Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe shared news of the club’s interest on Friday, posting on X:
“Georges Mikautadze among the names attracting interest from Tottenham as they look to strengthen their attack.”
Mikautadze is just one of several players Tottenham are considering, rather than someone they are actively pursuing right now. Still, the 25-year-old is an interesting option and could tick several boxes that Roberto De Zerbi is looking to tick, as his summer rebuild enters its final stages.
Mikautadze joined Villarreal last summer and made an immediate impact in Spanish football. In the 2025/26 La Liga season, he scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 32 games, totalling 19 direct goal contributions in just over 2,100 minutes.
Across all competitions, he finished the season as Villarreal’s top scorer with 15 goals and six assists in 42 matches. This consistent attacking output appears to have caught Tottenham’s eye.
Mikautadze can play through the middle or move into wider and deeper attacking areas, which could give De Zerbi a new option up front. His technical skills, movement, and ability to link up with teammates make him far more than a typical penalty-box striker. That versatility is what the Italian Head Coach is very keen on adding to his squad this summer.
The Georgian first gained major attention during Euro 2024, where he played a key role in Georgia’s historic debut at the European Championship. During the tournament, he finished as a joint winner of the Euro 2024 Golden Boot alongside Harry Kane, Cody Gakpo, Jamal Musiala, Dani Olmo and Ivan Schranz. He also became the only player to score in each of Georgia’s three group matches.
His career has included spells with Metz, Belgian club Seraing, Ajax, and Lyon before joining Villarreal. Although his time at Ajax was challenging, he rebuilt his reputation in France and then became a reliable forward in La Liga.
The latest information from O’Keefe suggests that interest is there from Tottenham as the club look to complete it summer rebuilding, after De Zerbi suggested they were “60% complete”
