Tottenham Hotspur have many first-team and academy players heading away on international duty. Here is the latest list of Spurs international call-ups.
Tottenham Hotspur will be well represented across international football during the extended September and October international period, with players from Roberto De Zerbi’s first-team squad and the club’s academy receiving call-ups.
The three-week break from Premier League action gives De Zerbi more time on the training ground, although the Spurs head coach will be without a considerable number of players heading away to represent their countries.
Those not called up have been given a week off following a tough opening to the league season, news that has not gone down well with the fan base.
Among Tottenham’s senior internationals, Andy Robertson will join Scotland, while centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke have both been selected by the Netherlands.
Ben Davies will link up with Wales, Sandro Tonali has been selected by Italy, and Lucas Bergvall will represent Sweden. Midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is also set for international action with Uruguay.
Tottenham will have representation further afield through Omar Marmoush, who has been called up by Egypt.
Goalkeepers Antonín Kinský and Martin Dúbravka will also leave Hotspur Way, representing Czechia and Slovakia respectively.
Spurs youngsters receive international recognition
Tottenham’s involvement does not end with the senior international squads, with several members of De Zerbi’s first-team group selected at Under-21 level.
Archie Gray has been called up by England U21s, while Mathys Tel will represent France U21s.
Mateus Fernandes is another important inclusion. The midfielder was overlooked for Portugal’s senior squad but has subsequently been selected for Portugal U21s, who have fixtures against Bulgaria, Gibraltar and Czechia during the international period.
Malachi Hardy and Luca Williams-Barnett have been selected for England U19S. Williams-Barnett’s recent return from injury is a good sign for Tottenham as the club continues to have high expectations of the attacking midfielder. De Zerbi has also praised Hardy recently.
Oscar Sandiford and Phoenix Offiah are set to represent England at U18 level.
An even larger Tottenham contingent is in the England U17 setup, with Mikel Jack, George Jobling, Kwasi Senyah and Toju Wellspring all receiving recognition.
Meanwhile, Ted Evans will represent Wales U17S.
Porro and Kudus remain at Tottenham
Two players will not be travelling: Pedro Porro and Mohammed Kudus.
Spain had selected Porro, but he withdrew after sustaining an injury against Aston Villa. Kudus, meanwhile, will remain at Tottenham rather than linking up with Ghana during the international period.
That leaves De Zerbi with a smaller group at Hotspur Way before Tottenham return to domestic action, while also giving players left behind individual programs to follow ahead of the Premier League return on October 10th away to Manchester United.
