Tottenham have opened new contract talks with Luca Williams-Barnett as Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Premier League rivals monitor him.
Tottenham are set to open talks over a new contract for Luca Williams-Barnett as Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich monitor the wonderkid.
The Spurs want to secure fresh terms for the 18-year-old, who scored two for England Under-19 during the extended international break, including on his first start. His existing agreement is believed to run until 2028 and, after excellent performances during the summer tour of Australia and New Zealand, the club is looking to secure him on a longer, more lucrative deal. Chelsea and Manchester United are also understood to be following his progress.
That follows reports linking Williams-Barnett with a potential move to Germany. Bundesliga outlet Sky Germany says Dortmund and Bayern are interested, with Manchester City also among the clubs tracking him.
Having progressed through the academy and reached senior football, his devlopment has it some injuries as is normal with an academy player, however this his return to Wayne Barnett’s Under-21’s, LWB has hit the ground running, completly changing the course of Spurs win over Dinamo Zagreb in which he socred, he also followed that up with a goal against Man City Under-21 a few days later.
His time with Tottenham stretches back several years, having joined at Under-10 level after previously playing for hometown club Luton Town.
He made his Under-18 debut aged 15 during the 2023/24 season before producing several standout moments the following campaign. Those included an Under-17 Premier League Cup final hat-trick against Charlton Athletic and a long-range strike against Leicester City that won the Under-18 Premier League Goal of the Season award.
His progress continued with a first-team debut against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup in September 2025. He signed his first professional contract the following month.
His rise continued at Under-21 level, where he struck a hat-trick against Leicester, and in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored five times against Slavia Prague in December 2025.
Williams-Barnett has also carried that threat into international football. He scored for England Under-19s against Norway before netting the winner in their 2–1 victory over the United States on October 2.
These performances and his progression explain the attention around him.
Reported interest from Dortmund and Bayern adds to the talk surrounding his long-term future, with both German clubs having good reputations for developing younger talent, particularly Dortmund, who have helped develop several top prospects to their potential.
While no agreement has officially been reached, it should be a big priority for the club to tie down one of his brightest players.
