Richarlison’s future at Tottenham Hotspur continues to be a talking point despite the transfer window closing in England. Reports say the Brazilian has agreed personal terms with Turkish club Trabzonspor, who plan to make another bid to sign him before their transfer window closes on Friday.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the 29-year-old has verbally agreed to a contract that would triple his current salary in north London. Trabzonspor have made Richarlison their top target, but they still need to agree a fee with Spurs, who have already turned down offers of £15 million and £20 million.
Trabzonspor are expected to come back with a better offer, but Tottenham’s asking price could still be a major hurdle. Spurs could have received up to £35 million when Everton considered bringing back their former striker during separate talks involving Iliman Ndiaye.
The possible move back to Goodison Park fell through before the English transfer deadline, with Richarlison turning down the transfer and later posting an emotional message on social media, saying he would not be forced into a move he did not want.
However, Trabzonspor seems to be a club Richarlison is open to joining. If he moves, he could form a high-profile attacking partnership with former Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, who joined Trabzonspor on a free transfer this summer.
Head coach Roberto De Zerbi had already revealed that Richarlison wants to leave Tottenham. After Spurs lost at home to Newcastle United, De Zerbi said the striker had asked to leave “too many times” over the summer. Kevin Danso and Pape Matar Sarr also requested transfers and later joined Sunderland and Juventus.
Despite the uncertainty, Richarlison remains a player for Tottenham as the English transfer window closed on Tuesday night. He was Tottenham’s top Premier League scorer last season with 11 goals and has one year left on his contract. The club also has the option to extend his deal by another year.
Tottenham’s summer signings have increased competition for attacking spots. Omar Marmoush, Savio, and Mykhailo Mudryk have joined the squad, giving De Zerbi more options. Dominic Solanke is also an experienced centre-forward in the team.
The Brazilian forward could end up striking up a new partnership with former Liverpool winger, Mo Salah, who joined the Turkish club on a free transfer this summer.
