Tottenham Hotspur has announced that Mikey Moore, Kota Takai, and Souza will spend the rest of the 2026/27 season out on loan.
Academy graduate Mikey Moore will continue his development at Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln. Last season, the 19-year-old played on loan at Rangers, where he scored seven goals in 47 games and was named PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year.
Moore joined Tottenham’s academy at age seven and moved up through every age group. He helped Spurs win both the Under-17 and Under-18 Premier League Cups in 2022/23, then made his Premier League debut against Manchester City in May 2024.
Moore also played in Tottenham’s 2024/25 Europa League run, scoring his first senior goal in a group-stage win against Swedish side Elfsborg. He had been part of the opening two Premier League fixtures, starting away at Brentford on opening day and coming off the bench in Tottenham's 0-2 defeat to Newcastle last Saturday.
Japanese defender Kota Takai has joined Belgian Pro League team Sint-Truidense VV. Tottenham signed Takai from Kawasaki Frontale in summer 2025. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
Takai made his Bundesliga debut against Augsburg on January 11 and played eight times for Mönchengladbach. He has four senior caps for Japan and was part of their Asian Under-23 Cup-winning team. He will now seek regular senior football in Belgium as Tottenham continue to monitor his progress, with the hope that he can break into a competitive defensive depth in the coming seasons.
The third departure is Brazilian full-back Souza, who has joined Portuguese club FC Porto.
Souza joined Tottenham from Santos in January and made his senior debut as a substitute against Manchester United at Old Trafford on February 7. He played four first-team games in his first months in north London. He also represented his country at the 2023 Under-17 World Cup and is considered another promising prospect for the future. Roberto De Zerbi is said to be high on the Brazilian, and a move to FC Porto will only help his development in the long term.
All three players will now get the chance to play more minutes in strong European leagues. Moore will keep developing in Germany, Takai can add to his Bundesliga experience in Belgium, and Souza will have the chance to grow at one of Portugal’s top clubs.
All three players will return next season as there are no buy options in any of the agreements.
