It has been suggested that Celtic would be open to accepting a £15 million offer in the January transfer window.

This upcoming winter transfer window could prove to be a very interesting one for Celtic. At this point in time, it is quite clear that the current team is not good enough.

They might be four points ahead in the title race heading into November, but based on recent displays, that might not be sustainable. This team is struggling right now. And quite badly.

Celtic will need to bring in some quality talent in the winter transfer window. Will the board do that? Most of the time, the club do seem content not to do much in January and let things play out.

That being said, it is not just about bringing in the right players either. This might be a situation where Celtic need to part ways with a few of their current crop of talents as well.

Celtic ready to part ways with key player

One player who might no longer be in a position to contribute to the team in the long run is Alistair Johnston.

The past few seasons have been a bit of a nightmare for Johnston. The Canadian international has dealt with one injury after another and spent more time out on the sidelines than on the pitch.

His most recent injury is not thought to be as serious as some of his previous ones. But it is another in a long list of spells out injured nonetheless.

Now, Celtic might be ready to move on. But the problem is, not many other teams seem to be in a position where they want to take on Johnston.

Everton are a club that had been linked with a move for Johnston not too long ago. But now, it does look like they are interested any longer.

As reported by Football Insider, Johnston could be available for a transfer fee of £15 million in the January window, with Celtic open to offers, but Everton are now prepared to look elsewhere.

Everton no longer interested in Alistair Johnston

It is not hard to see why Everton might no longer be interested in making a move for Johnstone. After all, this is a player who has dealt with a series of injuries in recent years.

Obviously, when fit and available, he is a very solid player. He does a good job on both ends of the pitch and adds leadership to a backline as well.

Johnston also has the kind of infectious passion that wins over fans quite easily. That being said, none of it matters if he can't stay fit, which has proven to be a tough battle for him in recent times.
