Celtic are considering a move for the England international, who spent 15 years at Manchester United across youth and senior levels.
When you concede five goals for Celtic, there are bound to be question marks, even when you save a penalty to keep the tie alive for a few extra minutes.
That is exactly what has happened with Viljami Sinisalo. The Finnish international, who had kept a clean sheet in the first leg against LASK, had to pick the ball out of his own net on five different occasions in the return fixture.
Now, there are added calls for the club to sign another goalkeeper. And it looks like they have set their sights on an England international, who spent 15 years at Manchester United over his youth and senior career.
Celtic considering move for English goalkeeper
According to the Daily Mail, Celtic are considering a move for Sam Johnstone, as the England international has emerged as a potential option for the Hoops.
Johnstone came through the youth ranks at Manchester United, having joined the club at 10 years of age. He would spend seven years on their books as a senior as well before moving on.
Since then, he has enjoyed a rise in the game. Johnstone has played for West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace and is currently at Wolves.
He was also able to break into the England national team picture and has represented the Three Lions on four occasions.
His time at Wolves might be towards its end though as the club have agreed a deal for Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Joao Virginia and are in talks to bring back John Ruddy as well.
As a result, Johnstone might no longer be a part of the manager's plans and it could be time for him to move on. Celtic looks like a potential destination.
Celtic need to reassess their transfer plans
Of course, Celtic will be reassessing their options now that Champions League football is no longer on the table. Playing in the competition means revenue north of £70 million just from it.
That is what they lost as a result of that collapse against LASK away in Austria. Naturally, you cannot expect the club to go for the same players they would have if they had qualified for the Champions League.
Someone like Johnstone could be an economical choice, who would add some much-needed experience between the posts.
Now, it remains to be seen if they can find an agreement with Wolves as well as Johnstone to get a deal done.
