The former Everton manager is open to the prospect of managing Celtic in the future.
The Celtic managerial situation remains up in the air. Going into the international break, there was a ton of talk about Martin O'Neill potentially walking away from the job after losing three games on the trot, including both home and away against the Rangers.
O'Neill has stayed put for the time being. But that does not mean that the situation is entirely settled.
If Celtic continue to struggle, there is still a possibility that O'Neill could reconsider his future in the hot seat. He might very well want to walk away with his legacy intact rather than damaging it by sticking around when things are going badly wrong.
In the long run, he is not expected to remain Celtic manager beyond this season anyway. After all, he is 74 years of age.
Of course, replacing someone of O'Neill's stature is going to be very difficult, whether it is in the middle of the season or next summer. But it appears a Premier League veteran is open to the idea of taking on the Celtic job.
Former Everton boss open to taking on Celtic job
According to a report from Football Insider, Sean Dyche will seriously consider becoming the next Celtic manager if an offer is tabled.
Even though Celtic continue to back O'Neill, plans are being put in place in case they end up having to make a tough decision. Dyche would be seen as a leading candidate for the role and is believed to be interested in the Parkhead job.
Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Celtic. Will they turn things around, which could mean that O'Neill remains in place until the end of the campaign?
Or will their downward trajectory continue? If it is the latter, there is no way that they can stick with O'Neill. Things simply do not work like that at Celtic Park. Winning is essential.
Would Sean Dyche be the right manager for Celtic?
If Dyche is appointed as the Celtic manager, it would be a move that divides the fanbase. On one hand, you cannot deny his experience.
He was at Burnley for a decade and won them promotion to the Premier League on two occasions, while also establishing them in the English top flight for six straight seasons under his watch.
Since then, he has had roles at Everton and Nottingham Forest. But even then, a move to Celtic would be a jump when it comes to supporters' expectations.
Can Dyche produce a winning team? He has shown that he can do that in the Championship. But not necessarily in the top flight. The being said, a 7th place finish in the Premier League with Burnley does deserve a ton of respect.
