Wouter Vrancken’s high-scoring Hearts aim to close the gap at Tynecastle, while Derek McInnes returns with a formidable Rangers defence despite both squads facing significant injury crises.

Scottish side Heart of Midlothian will be playing host to fellow club Rangers when the latter travel to the home ground of the former, Tynecastle Park, for a Scottish Premiership fixture to be played on Wednesday.

Hearts, currently in third position on the Scottish top-flight league table, will be entering the fixture looking to secure a victory that would reduce the gap between them and second-placed side Rangers to a point. Having scored 22 goals in 10 league fixtures, manager Wouter Vrancken's side will look to carry on their excellent attacking form as they go up against one of the best defences in the league.

Rangers, who are currently being managed by former Hearts boss Derek McInnes, have put in some very strong defensive outings in the league; their last 10 games in the top flight have seen them concede a mere 7 goals. The away record of the side will also be playing an important role; Rangers have not lost any of their last five league games played away from Ibrox, their home stadium. This run included three victories and two draws. In addition, in their last 11 games across all competitions. the Gers have won nine, drawn one and lost one game.

Team News

Several injuries have plagued Heart of Midlothian ever since the start of the season. The situation will be no different on Wednesday when the team hosts Rangers; Wouter Vrancken's side will be devoid of the services of no less than 8 players, which includes the likes of Blair Spittal, Christian Borchgrevink, Craig Halkett, Harry Milne, Oisin McEntee, Stuart Findlay, Ageu and Tom Renaud.
