The Scottish football expert raised alarm bells for Rangers manager Derek McInnes ahead of consecutive matches against Celtic.
After winning four games on the trot, Rangers are certainly looking confident before they take on Celtic in two back-to-back Glasgow derbies.
The Gers have now climbed up to second in the league table, five points behind the Celts and one point ahead of Hearts, having played one extra game than the Tynecastle side.
New manager Derek McInnes have seemingly devised the perfect system for the new look Rangers side following a poor start to the campaign.
However, the next two games could prove to be the most crucial, for the Gers' campaign and also for their manager's job security early in the season.
Former Aberdeen and Everton chief seemingly is of the same opinion as he made a worrying prediction on Football Insider Inside Track podcast saying, "I think victory is clearly more important for Derek McInnes and Rangers. The away end will be filled with home fans, so the groans will be even louder if Celtic go ahead. Rangers have had a very poor start to the season. This matters more to them, and if they fail here, the pressure really will start to mount.
"McInnes would be right under it if he was to lose at home. We are getting to the territory, if he loses that game, where we start to have a countdown (of how many games he has left). The Old Firm clubs do have this kneejerk problem, but McInnes has got to be given time."
The Light Blues will be without European football this season following their defeats against Jagiellonia Bialystok and FK Jablonec in the Europa League and Conference qualifiers respectively.
As a result, McInnes will only have three domestic competitions remaining to end the Gers' trophy drought this season, with the team preparing to take on the Hoops in two of those competitions in back-to-back games.
The Teddy Bears will now need to conquer a high-flying Celtic side in the quarter-finals of the League Cup at Ibrox this Sunday, and then take on the league leaders at their den the following weekend in a bid to close the gap at the top of the league table.
As already cautioned by Wyness, this certainly seems like a make or break situation for McInnes and his men, as a poor result in any of these two games could decide their fate this season and its only September.
The Gers will need to make full use of their home advantage this Sunday, as there will be no away supporters in Glasgow derbies for the remainder of this season following the recent SPFL ruling.
