Besiktas prepares a massive €16 million bid for Nicolas Raskin, testing the Belgian midfielder’s resolve as Turkish giants reignite their pursuit of the Ibrox star this winter.

According to a report by media outlet TransferFeed, Turkish club Besiktas will supposedly try to sign Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin after failing to bring him to Turkey during the summer transfer window.

As stated in a TransferFeed update, sources from inside Turkey said that a deal worth €16 million was being prepared to bring Raskin to the club. However, media outlet Football Insider refuted these claims. It instead said that Rangers had rejected Besiktas’ advances for Raskin, considering the player important to the club’s success.

However, according to ex-Rangers interim boss Barry Ferguson, the Belgian midfielder, although expected to remain at Rangers beyond January, may consider an exit from the club if an offer that he, as per the article, “considers to be ridiculous” comes his way.

Earlier reports by media outlets like Team Talk had said that Raskin was on the verge of leaving Ibrox during the summer transfer window, when the original offer by Besiktas was put on the table. The Turkish club had, supposedly, considered both permanent deal and loan deal options; however, the player had rejected the move then. Raskin, although mentally prepared to leave Ibrox and after agreeing on personal terms with the Turkish side, backed out as he did not consider the offer to move to the Süper Lig to be the correct choice as his next destination after leaving Scotland. The player, as said by Team Talk, was ready to wait for an offer made by a club playing in any of Europe's top 5 leagues.

Raskin, a graduate of the academy of Belgian side Gent, played 1 game for their first team before moving to fellow club Standard Liège in 2019. He then joined Rangers in 2023 after playing 80 league fixtures for the club. Since then, the 25-year-old has played in 101 official league games for the Gers, scoring 11 goals in the process.

With Standard Liège, Raskin finished as runners-up in the 2020-21 edition of the Belgian Cup. He achieved the same result with Rangers in the 2022-23 edition of the Scottish League Cup.

In addition to his club career, Raskin has made appearances for all the youth squads of the Belgian national football team, and made his debut for the senior team in 2025. Since then, he has played 22 games for the Red Devils and has scored on two occasions.

It will be interesting to see whether Nicolas Raskin moves to a different club or decides to stay at Rangers. Besiktas' renewed interest in the player is a testament to his impressive skills, and if the club can convince the midfielder, a successful move may come to life.
