Cammy Devlin’s barber has offered a positive injury update after the Rangers midfielder suffered a hamstring scare in the win over Celtic.

Rangers have been offered encouragement over Cammy Devlin’s fitness after the midfielder’s Australian barber claimed he was “Good as new” following his recent hamstring scare.

According to Rangers News, Billy’s Barber Shop gave an update on Instagram after a supporter asked about Devlin’s recovery. The account shared a photograph of the midfielder and a signed Rangers shirt, celebrating his move to Ibrox.

The comment remains an informal assessment, with confirmation of Devlin’s availability still required from Derek McInnes. The Light Blues will hope that the optimism is reflected in the midfielder’s condition when preparations step up for the return of domestic football.

Devlin sustained the problem during the closing stages of Rangers’ 1-0 victory over Celtic at Parkhead on September 20. The visitors had already used all five substitutes, leaving McInnes unable to make another change as his side protected their narrow lead.

As quoted by the Glasgow Times, McInnes said afterwards, "Cammy Devlin actually does his hamstring in the last five minutes of the game, when we’d used all our subs." The Rangers manager also identified an ankle problem for James Penrice, a calf concern for Dan Neil and hamstring discomfort for Dujon Sterling.

Those setbacks raised fitness questions across midfield and defence ahead of the international break. Neil and Nicolas Raskin started together in central midfield at Parkhead, while Devlin was brought on for Kevin Kelsy late in the game.

His potential availability would preserve McInnes’ flexibility when adjusting the balance of his Rangers side. Ryan Naderi’s winner secured a fifth successive Scottish Premiership victory for the Light Blues, coming a week after their 3-0 Premier Sports Cup win over Celtic at Ibrox.

Maintaining that momentum will be the priority when league action resumes. Devlin joined the Gers in July after his Hearts contract expired, agreeing to a two-year deal with the option of another season.

The move reunited him with McInnes following more than 150 appearances for the Edinburgh club. The Scottish manager made his appreciation of the Australian midfielder clear when he signed, telling the club’s website, "His levels of consistency for me were superb, and he is the type of player that every manager wants in his team."

Rangers are next scheduled to host Kilmarnock at Ibrox on October 10, giving McInnes additional time to assess those affected. A positive update from the club on Devlin would help clarify his midfield options as attention turns back towards the Premiership campaign after club football resumes.
