Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos have found the 'formula' for David Carmo's transfer, which is set to be sealed on Monday. The clubs have reached an agreement, and the signing is expected to be finalized soon.
According to reports, Nottingham Forest F.C. has reached an agreement to transfer one of its defenders to Olympiacos F.C., and the move is now very close to completion.
For several weeks, there has been speculation surrounding the future of 26-year-old center back David Carmo. The Angola international is not part of the Premier League club’s plans, and the board has been searching for a solution.
It now appears that his destination is Greece, specifically Piraeus, where Olympiacos is ready to welcome him back with open arms at the request of head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar.
The interest is nothing new, as the two clubs have been linked with a reunion for weeks. However, according to a recent report from Sport24.gr, the deal could be completed as early as next Monday.
Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos Transfer Deal Done
According to the report, Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest are preparing the necessary paperwork to complete Carmo’s transfer, with the defender excited about returning to Greece, the country where he enjoyed the best spell of his career.
The report does not specify the deal's structure, but it states that both clubs have found a formula to complete the transfer.
Carmo’s contract is reportedly ready, and the center back is expected to arrive Monday to once again become a key member of the Greek giants’ squad.
"The formula has been found, Carmo's contract is settled, and he is expected to be in Rentis on Monday."
It is worth remembering that Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos share the same owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Portuguese club Rio Ave.
With the operation being handled by the Marinakis Football Group, it was always likely that a solution could be found to facilitate the transfer. That is because the Red and Whites rarely spend more than €5 million or €6 million on a single player.
While Forest’s first move involving Carmo and Olympiacos was a loan deal, this time the expectation has always been that the transfer would be permanent, and that now appears to be the case.
Carmo spent last season on loan at Real Oviedo, where he made 22 league appearances and scored one goal.
Although he had several strong performances, particularly during the first half of the campaign, it is evident that the best version of the Angola international came during the 2023-24 season with Olympiacos, when he helped the club win the UEFA Conference League after making nine appearances in the competition.
