Frozen out by manager Imanol Alguacil, Olympiacos' Brazilian forward prepares to exit Piraeus in January after failing to register a single minute or goal for the Greek giants.
According to a report by media outlet TransferFeed, Brazilian forward Clayton is set to leave Greek side Olympiacos in the January transfer window, as the player no longer appears in the manager's and the club hierarchy's plans.
The 27-year-old centre-forward has not played a single minute under current Piraeus manager Imanol Alguacil, who joined the club after previous boss José Luis Mendilibar left in the summer transfer window. In fact, it is a point to be noted that Clayton had also failed to be a part of the club's sporting plans during Mendilibar’s era.
TransferFeed wrote in its article, “Clayton will leave, as he has not played any minutes under Alguacil, and José Luis Mendilibar also did not consider him. The former Rio Ave player does not fit into Olympiacos's roster.”
Media outlet Gazzetta.gr had also reported in earlier news, via TransferFeed, that Clayton’s move to Turkey to compete in the Turkish Super League, while almost finalised, died down at the eleventh hour, and communications had stopped. Sport FM had also reported, via TransferFeed, that the Turkish club in contact with Olympiacos over a deal for the 27-year-old was Çaykur Rizespor.
A graduate of the academy of Brazilian club Lajeadense, the centre-forward played for multiple clubs in Brazil and Portugal before making his move to Olympiacos from Portuguese Primeira Liga side Rio Ave in 2026. He has since made 6 appearances for Thrylos in the Super League Greece. He has failed to score a goal in any of the matches that he has appeared in.
Having joined the club in February 2026, it is interesting that the player has not been a part of any of the managers he has had while at Olympiacos, given his performances at his previous club, Rio Ave, where he scored quite frequently.
TransferFeed had written in an earlier news that the forward could be considered to leave the club on a loan deal; however, that did not transpire, and Clayton ended up remaining at Olympiacos at the time. The same news article also mentioned that English side West Ham United were interested in acquiring the services of the player.
Currently valued at €7 million on Transfermarkt, Clayton will not want to stay for long at a club where he does not fit into the manager's and the club authorities’ sporting plans. A move in January away from Olympiacos will be beneficial for the player, as it may provide him with an opportunity to showcase his skills.
As things stand, until and unless there is any major development in the situation, the 27-year-old Brazilian forward will not continue with Thrylos beyond January.
