Jota Silva silenced critics with a nine-minute blitz in front of his family, matching last season's tally and fueling Olympiacos' trophy ambitions with clinical efficiency.
Media outlet Sport24.gr, in an article, reported that after scoring the first official hat-trick of his career in Olympiacos' league fixture against Kalamata, doubts regarding the performance of Portuguese forward Jota Silva were put to rest. Scoring the three goals in a span of about nine minutes, Silva proved why the manager and the club authorities placed their faith in him.
According to the article, after the hat-trick, Silva is currently the top scorer for Olympiacos in the league, having scored five goals. Apart from the three goals against Kalamata, the other two were scored against Tripolia and Volos early on in the season. The forward had also scored a hat-trick earlier in a friendly game against Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands. That game was won by Olympiacos by a margin of 3-1.
Sunday afternoon was, however, more special for Silva as it was the first time that his wife and son were present in the stands to support him, and as written in the article, “...these moments are special for every player. The 27-year-old footballer feels good at Olympiacos and this is reflected in his smile, in the intensity, the passion and the determination he shows in the matches.”
In the eight matches he has played so far in the Super League Greece for Olympiacos this season, Silva has registered 6 G/A, scoring 5 goals and providing 1 assist. It is noteworthy that the 27-year-old has already equalled his performance from last season with Besiktas, where he scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist in 18 games. If he can maintain this momentum, Silva may well take the number of goals he scores over the course of the season to double figures.
It is also a fact to be noted that during the last season, and in this season already, the forward had, and has, surpassed his record at English side Nottingham Forest, the club where he played before joining Besiktas. While with the Tricky Trees, Silva had registered 5 goals and 3 assists over 38 games of the 2024-25 league campaign.
Currently valued at a price of around €9 million, Silva will now want to surpass his record at Vitoria Guimaraes, the club where he scored 15 goals and provided 7 assists in 42 games across all competitions of the 2023-24 season.
An integral part of the tactical set-up of Olympiacos boss Imanol Alguacil, Silva has started in 6 games out of the 7 that he has been a part of the matchday squad. This is a testament to the fact that the player holds immense importance in the squad.
As things stand, Olympiacos will be heavily dependent on the continued good form of its players, especially the attackers, if they want to go deep into the season and collect multiple trophies. The form of players like Jota Silva will, therefore, hold immense importance.
