Marseille are weighing a €15 million bid for Olympiacos' Santiago Hezze after the Argentine’s commanding Europa League display sparked interest in bringing the midfielder to France.

According to an update by the Red Champion (via TransferFeed), reports from Turkey and France indicate that Marseille are making a potential move for Olympiacos midfielder Santiago Hezze during the winter transfer window.

Hezze's performance at the Stade Orange Velodrome during Olympiacos' UEFA Europa League Matchday 2 fixture against Marseille was believed to have been convincing enough for the French outfit to agree on a transfer for him. The Marseille management understands that the Argentine midfielder has all the qualities they are looking for, and are ready to bid for him when the next transfer window opens.

If the interest from France is true, Marseille are expected to establish contact with the player's entourage and Olympiacos soon to avoid any unwanted competition from other clubs. Moreover, Les Phocéens are reportedly interested in offering Olympiacos a 15 million package to secure the services of Hezze.

The 24-year-old's future at the Greek club was already up in the air earlier in the summer when several reports linked him with a club elsewhere. The rumours began when Olympiacos were actively probing midfield reinforcements. While they ended up signing veteran Remo Freuler and former Real Racing Club's Gustavo Puerta, Hezze was not dislodged from the squad, as he largely plays as a defensive midfielder.

Olympiacos were also not keen on parting ways with the Buenos Aires-born man, and they gave multiple assurances about his regular playing spot with the team for the season. He has featured in six Super League Greece matches and twice in the Europa League. So far, he has not faced any game-time issues, though he has not started all of them.

While a formal offer is still far away, it remains to be seen whether a bid of 15 million euros is enough to convince Evangelos Marinakis to offload one of the promising midfielders in the Red and Whites' squad. As per a previous report on TransferFeed, the current period is considered to be a pathbreaking one for Hezze, as he will certainly be weighing an offer for a top European club to further advance his future.

At this point, Olympiacos can yield the dividends of a player gathering attention from around Europe. Hezze has rarely slipped up in his performances till now this campaign, and there is a real possibility of recording a profit from his sale if such an offer arrives soon.
