Olympiacos are revisiting a move for former Manchester United man and free agent Adnan Januzaj to bolster their wing depth as injury concerns and lack of impact plague current options.

According to an update on TransferFeed (by Voetbalnieuws.be), Olympiacos have registered a primary interest in signing Manchester United youth academy graduate Adnan Januzaj. The 31-year-old is currently a free agent as his contract with La Liga side Sevilla expired in June 2026. He hired a new agent during the summer transfer window, but he is yet to find a club.

Earlier, Olympiacos actively looked at Januzaj's profile to strengthen their squad depth. However, several issues, including a lack of team activity and match fitness, contributed to the Greek giants' decision not to sign him this past summer. The Belgian remains one of the most inexpensive options on the free agent market, considering the nature of the experience and wing-play opportunities he brings with him.

As per a previous update on TransferFeed, the winger was offered to Olympiacos for a potential transfer, but the club did not move forward then due to head coach Imanol Alguacil's advice. Currently, the Red and Whites have the likes of Gustavo Sa, Joel Roca, Kostas Fortounis, Leon Bailey, Gelson Martins and Jota Silva ready to feature on the wings in a 4-2-3-1 setup. Another addition to the same ranks would overload the position, but it is key to note that the club did not entirely reject the possibility of signing Januzaj.

Last season, Januzaj featured in 12 matches for Sevilla in the Spanish top flight, leaving the season without a goal or an assist. He spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Las Palmas, where he scored twice and registered one assist while starring in 18 matches throughout the season.

With Bailey dealing with repetitive injury concerns, Januzaj's name is constantly circling among the Piraeus club's transfer segments. The Jamaican was brought in to complement the winger roles at Olympiacos for the season, but he is yet to make an impact on any result or in the team. Instead, he was left out of the recent squad which travelled to Marseille for Matchday 2 of the UEFA Europa League. The game ended in a narrow 1-0 victory for Olympiacos.

It was due to injury issues that Thrylos decided against making a move for Januzaj during the summer, so a reassessment will be required by the club if they want to pursue him again. The player's agent is believed to have stayed in contact with the club, searching for an opening, leading to a potential destination for his client.
