Real Betis eyes a January move for Nigerian standout Bruno Onyemaechi, as Olympiacos sets a €6 million price tag for the decorated Super League defender.
According to a report by media outlet TransferFeed, La Liga outfit Real Betis are showing interest in Nigerian left-back Bruno Onyemaechi. The club is reportedly interested in securing the services of the 27-year-old during the upcoming January 2027 transfer window.
TransferFeed, interestingly, noted in its article that this is not the first instance that Onyemaechi has been approached by a club from Spain. According to the media outlet, Spanish clubs Las Palmas and Getafe had also shown interest in securing the services of the player while he was still playing for Portuguese side Boavista. Las Palmas had, in fact, made an official approach to Os Axadrezados. This is testimony to the impeccable talent of the player, which has led him to attract interest again from Spain.
Olympiacos acquired the services of the Nigerian full-back in 2025 in a deal worth €2.5 million. The deal also included a sell-on clause that would allow Boavista to receive 10% of any amount that Piraeus decided to sell Onyemaechi for. Olympiacos are now asking for the left-back at a price of €6 million.
It is worth noting that there is still no official offer from Betis’ side for the player, and no negotiations have started between the clubs till now. Olympiacos have communicated to the interested clubs its intention to sell the player for €6 million, as it considers the Nigerian an important member of its squad.
Onyemaechi, a product of the Feirense academy, made his debut for the first team of the club in 2020 and played 29 official games for the club before making a permanent move to fellow Portuguese side Boavista, where he played a further 42 games before Olympiacos signed him in 2025.
While at Piraeus, the left-back was part of the squad that won the 2024-25 Super League Greece and the 2024-25 Greek Football Cup.
In addition to his club career, Onyemaechi has also played 32 official fixtures for the Nigeria National Football Team since making his debut in 2023.
It remains to be seen whether Bruno Onyemaechi makes his move to Spain, or he ends up remaining at the Greek side. The fact that Spanish clubs have shown interest in securing his services is testimony to the player’s impeccable technical quality, as La Liga is often considered to be one of the most technical leagues in the world. A move to Spain is sure to provide wider exposure to the left-back and a larger platform to hone his skills.
