Real Madrid and Barcelona are closely following Olympiacos star Christos Mouzakitis, per reports. The 19-year-old midfielder is taking Spanish lessons, hinting at a potential move.
According to reports, Real Madrid and Barcelona are among the clubs closely following the situation of Olympiacos star Christos Mouzakitis. The latest decision made by the 19-year-old midfielder is good news for the Spanish giants.
Mouzakitis broke through in the 2024-25 season with Thrylos, becoming an important piece for head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar's team.
Since then, the young talent has been linked to multiple big European teams, notably Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, and Manchester United.
Well, according to Monobala.gr, since the beginning of 2026, Mouzakitis has been taking intensive Spanish lessons. This decision is seen by the cited outlet as preparation for "the next big step in his career." A big boost for both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
"According to information from Monobala.gr, for about three months, since the beginning of the year, Mouzakitis has begun intensive Spanish lessons."
Clearly, this is not such good news for PSG and Manchester United. In March, Sky Sports revealed that the Red Devils had identified the player as a highly rated prospect to help revamp their midfield.
According to that report, Olympiacos would demand around $33 million for Mouzakitis.
Experts in Greek soccer describe the Red and Whites star as having "work rate and decision-making; he's a high-volume tackler who recovers possession effectively, boasting impressive stamina to cover ground throughout 90 minutes."
Mouzakitis is said to "excel in transitional phases" and has even been compared to PSG legend Marco Verratti and Real Madrid icon Luka Modric.
During the 2025-26 season, the young Olympiacos talent played 39 matches across the Greek Super League, the Greek Cup, the Champions League, and the Greek Super Cup. He scored one goal and provided three assists.
According to Transfermarkt estimates, Mouzakitis has a market value of $27 million, close to what the Greek club reportedly demands to let him go.
Olympiacos' stance on a potential departure of their pupil is unclear, although reports in Greece indicate that the club is about to extend the contract of midfielder Dani Garcia and is close to closing the arrival of Rayo Vallecano's midfield star Unai Lopez. That may be a hint that they are preparing for Mouzakitis' departure. We will have to wait and see.
Where do you think Christos Mouzakitis will play next season?
