Tunisian veteran Ellyes Skhiri eyes an exit as Eintracht Frankfurt slashes his price tag, sparking a fierce bidding war between Olympiacos, Torino, Mainz, Fiorentina and Köln.
As reported by media outlet TransferFeed, Greek club Olympiacos are looking to sign Tunisian midfielder Ellyes Skhiri, who currently plays for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. If successful, the signing will be one of several that Thrylos manager José Luis Mendilibar will be looking to make this summer in its bid to bolster the entire squad ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The 31-year-old midfielder’s current contract with Eintracht Frankfurt runs until 2027, and he will be entering the final year of his contract this summer. Given that he was not awarded much playing time in the 2025-26 season, media outlets such as TransferFeed have reported that Skhiri is also keen on a move away from the German side. This wish of the player to leave his current club may contribute significantly towards a successful securement of a potential deal with Olympiacos.
Skhiri has a current market value of around €5 million, and Eintracht Frankfurt are asking a price between €1.5 million and €2 million for the transfer of the player. The club will also be keen on closing a deal with any interested club soon, given that the player will be entering the final year of his contract, and to avoid losing him on a free transfer the following year. The asking price is definitely quite low compared to Skhiri’s market value, and this may help significantly in making a move away from the club possible.
It is noteworthy that Skhiri has been a regular name in the Tunisia National Football Team squads since 2018, playing 86 games for the Eagles of Carthage and scoring 4 goals in the process. With Tunisia, he managed to bag a 4th-place finish in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations competition.
In addition to his international career, Skhiri has also played for French club Montpellier and German club 1. FC Köln, after graduating from the academy of the former. The Tunisian appeared in 123 league games and 118 league games for the two clubs, respectively, scoring a total of 27 goals. He moved to his current club, Eintracht Frankfurt, in 2023, and has since appeared in 82 league fixtures for Die Adler and scored 3 goals in the Bundesliga. His current goal tally, including international and league fixtures, stands at 34.
It is reported that his former club Köln are also interested in bringing back the 31-year-old to the club. Also, several other clubs, including Mainz, Fiorentina and Torino, are also, reportedly interested in securing the services of the player. It remains to be seen which club ends up becoming the next destination of Ellyes Skhiri.
