Olympiacos have submitted an improved transfer offer of €8.5 million to Chivas de Guadalajara for 23-year-old Mexican striker Armando González. The renewed proposal includes a 20% future resale clause and achievable add-ons.
Greek Super League outfit Olympiacos have sent a renewed offer to Chivas de Guadalajara to acquire the services of striker Armando González.
According to a report by Sport24.gr, Olympiacos have tabled a second bid to Mexican club Chivas to seal the signature of Armando González. The Red and Whites had their first offer worth around €6 million rejected by the Rebaño Sagrado.
The Piraeus-based side remain locked in negotiations, and have raised their proposal to €8.5 million as transfer fees. The deal is also expected to contain a 20% future resale value and achievable bonuses, which can further aid Chivas' finances. The difference right now is believed to be standing at €1 million between the two clubs, as Olympiacos push on to lower the demands.
There was a meeting between Thrylos and the player's entourage on Sunday. González showed verbal appreciation for the Greek giants and was positive about coming to play for the club. The Red and Whites also indicated what his final contract offer might look like to remove any last-minute halts to the deal if it goes through.
González remained an unused substitute in C.D. Guadalajara's Mexican Apertura match against Santos Laguna, which ended in a 1-0 victory for his team. Amongst his teammates, the feeling is that the 23-year-old striker has already been present for his last outing with Chivas. La Hormiga's representatives expect their current side's board of directors to reach an agreement with Olympiacos on fees within the next two days, after which their client will fly to Athens to officially sign for the club.
As per an earlier report on Roundtable, González has an approximate release clause of €15 million, which was added to his contract following his World Cup call-up with Mexico. Olympiacos have been monitoring the player's movements and future wishes for quite some time now, and finally, they decided to pursue transfer proceedings.
It was also revealed that the former CD Tapatio man had rumours linking him to Russian outfit CSKA Moscow few months ago, but all those gossips have now been laid to rest.
Mexican National Team manager Javier Aguirre called González in November 2025 for the friendlies against Uruguay and Paraguay. He made his international debut in the match with Paraguay. While he was named to Mexico's 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup, he managed to get only 14 minutes in the five games of the competition.
Chivas are likely to agree on a deal with Olympiacos in the next few hours following which the Greeks will enter into talks for an agreement on personal terms with the player.
