Olympiacos target Flamengo left-back Matias Viña after Francisco Ortega nears a move to River Plate. Getafe are also interested in the Uruguayan.
Olympiacos F.C. are looking for a left-back. Francisco Ortega is a step away from his transfer to Argentine side River Plate, with the medical exams and the club's announcement the only things left to formalise his departure from Piraeus.
Thrylos are particularly active in the transfer window, examining several cases of left-wing defenders, mainly Anass Salah-Edin.
The Moroccan's case, however, is particularly complicated: the player initially rejected Olympiacos' offer, then asked the Red and Whites for time to give them his final answer, according to reports.
A new name that has come to the fore for Olympiacos is that of Matias Viña. Respected journalist German Garcia Grova spoke of the Piraeus team's interest in the Flamengo left-back in his post on X (Twitter).
As he reports, the Red and Whites have begun negotiations with the Brazilians for the talented full-back, while Spanish side Getafe are also in the running to acquire him.
Viña, 28, has a contract with Flamengo but is on loan at River Plate. He has had little playing time and is reportedly looking for a way out.
The Uruguayan left-back has 44 caps for his national team, scoring 1 goal, and has had a full career, with 235 games, 13 goals, and 23 assists. In the 2026 World Cup, he started against Saudi Arabia and was substituted at half-time.
Elsewhere, according to reports from Spain cited by outlet TransferFeed, Nottingham Forest have made an approach to sign Racing Santander midfielder Gustavo Puerta, while Olympiacos have opened talks with the Spanish club and also expressed interest in the 23-year-old Colombian.
It is well known that, in addition to a left-back, Thrylos are also looking to sign another midfielder. It is also worth remembering that both Forest and Olympiacos are owned by Evangelos Marinakis, and moves between the two clubs are common nowadays. This summer is a clear example, with the permanent transfer of Angola centre-back David Carmo from Nottingham to Piraeus completed without any complications.
The Greek giants also secured the signing of 26-year-old Portuguese winger Jota Silva on loan from Nottingham Forest with an undisclosed purchase option. The icing on the cake was the surprise signing of Portuguese midfielder Gustavo Sa from Famalicao.
However, Sa, 21, joined on loan after originally signing for Nottingham Forest, as the transfer fee was considered impossible for the Greek club to pay. The English side covered the cost, and the player was promised the opportunity to play in the Premier League in the near future. Apparently, the loan is valid for one season.
