Hull City are close to securing Greek teenage sensation Christos Mouzakitis to bolster their Premier League return, reuniting the UEFA Youth League winner with former Olympiacos teammate Konstantinos Tzolakis in East Yorkshire.
According to an update by journalist Pete O'Rourke, Hull City have made a deadline-day move for Olympiacos midfielder Christos Mouzakitis. There is reportedly an agreement close between the two sides, as the Greek teenage sensation is expected to reunite with Konstantinos Tzolakis, who left for Hull City earlier in the transfer window on a €20 million deal.
The newly promoted Premier League side has agreed on a transfer fee worth €15 million for Mouzakitis. The 19-year-old midfielder has 78 appearances with the Olympiacos first team, netting three goals and registering seven assists. He has won the UEFA Youth League with the club's U-19 side.
The Red and Whites have been searching for a new reinforcement in their midfield ranks, and they are set to close in on the signature of Racing de Santander's Gustavo Puerta through a Nottingham Forest loan deal. The Evangelos Marinakis-owned English top-flight club are ready to trigger the €20 million release clause for the Colombian international, who has been looking forward to an exit from the Spanish outfit this summer.
Talks have not yet concluded as the figures are still somewhat speculative. English football transfer expert Ben Jacobs and Greek journalist Konstantinos Lianos have both confirmed the links to Hull City's late approach for Mouzakitis. Negotiations are in an advanced stage, and a final agreement will be announced by the two clubs soon.
Meanwhile, in other news, Olympiacos have denied rumours connecting the club with a potential summer signing of Real Betis wonderkid Pablo Garcia. The young winger emerged as a transfer topic after reports claimed that talks to sign Sevilla man Ruben Vargas were stalled. There is a valuation gap of €3 million between the Piraeus club and the Andalusians, which is not being sorted out in negotiations at the moment. Marinakis is aware that Sevilla must offload the Swiss international to register three of their new signings in their squad.
Konstantinos Fortounis was brought back to the fold earlier this summer following a two-year spell with Saudi Pro League side Al-Khaleej. However, he is not the only solution to the winger problem. Head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar usually plays a 4-2-3-1 formation, and therefore he would require two additional players in the squad to deputise for the starting ones when they are not available. As for the starting striker, Ayoub El Kaabi is expected to retain his place for the best part of the season, but new signing Armando 'La Hormiga' Gonzalez provides strong competition.
