Olympiacos would be interested in another Chivas player. After signing Armando 'Hormiga' Gonzalez during the summer, the Greek club would now have Mexican defender Diego Campillo on its radar, who is going through one of his best moments with Guadalajara.
The information gained strength from Greece, where the outlet Sportime reported that Olympiacos is evaluating the Red-and-White player's situation and highlighted one detail: his contract with Chivas ends on Dec. 31, 2026.
The interest, however, is still in its early stages. So far, Olympiacos and Chivas have made no offer or entered into formal negotiations for Campillo. In addition, sources close to the Mexican club informed OlympiacosRoundtable that Campillo's contract with Chivas extends until 2029.
What Do We Know About Olympiacos' Interest in Diego Campillo?
The Sportime report says the Piraeus club has once again turned its attention to the Mexican market and is interested in Campillo, whom it describes as a potential option to strengthen the defense.
The Mexican, 24, can play mainly as a center back, though his versatility lets him cover other defensive positions, which would have caught attention in Greece.
Another Greek outlet, To10, also reported on Campillo, though it noted that doubts remain in Greece about how serious Olympiacos' interest really is.
Mexican outlet FOX Sports reported that Chivas has not received any formal approach from Olympiacos or any other club to sign the defender.
The Mexican's contractual situation could become an important factor. Diego Campillo's link with Chivas was supposed to end on Dec. 31, 2026, but according to our information, it has already been extended until 2029.
This means that, if Guadalajara decides to let him go, the defender would have to leave after an important offer that, frankly, given the age and quality of the player, it does not seem Olympiacos is willing to assume.
Campillo has cemented his place in the Guadalajara squad and has also recently entered Rafael Márquez's plans for the Mexican national team. The defender was part of the new national coach's first call-up and participated in the match against Peru during the September FIFA international break.
The possible interest in Campillo has a very recent precedent, and it is the "elephant in the room."
On Aug. 22, 2026, Olympiacos officially announced the signing of Armando "Hormiga" Gonzalez, who arrived directly from Chivas after standing out as one of the most promising Mexican forwards.
The Greek club highlighted his formation in the red-and-white youth ranks and the 24 goals he scored between the Apertura 2025 and Clausura 2026 when announcing him.
Now, just over a month after that operation, another Chivas player appears to be linked to Olympiacos. For now, there is nothing. The best thing is to wait until the January transfer window to see whether reports about it resurface.
