Olympiacos sends strong €8M proposal for West Ham's Edson Alvarez and holds an advantage over Real Sociedad. Mexican midfielder sends positive signals about a move to Greece.

There has been some movement in the last few hours in the Edson Alvarez case, as it has been confirmed in Mexico, Olympiacos F.C. has made a strong move to acquire him from West Ham.

The 29-year-old midfielder, first reported by Spyros Gromitsaris on Sportdog.gr and later confirmed by journalists Nikos Kotsis and Cesar Luis Merlo, is now a key transfer priority for the Piraeus side, with a reported offer of 8 million euros.

Now, according to journalist Christian Vaquero, this proposal gives Olympiacos a big advantage over Real Sociedad, the other club interested in Alvarez.

According to the cited report, the Spanish club insists on loaning out the Mexican midfielder, which West Ham does not want, as they prefer to sell him permanently rather than send him on loan.

And there is more. According to Sportdog.gr, Alvarez has already sent the first positive signals indicating interest in at least considering a move to Olympiacos and reuniting with his national team teammate, Armando 'La Hormiga' Gonzalez.

The player would have started in the last few hours to ask for and look for details about Greece very intensely. So, the fact that he is warming up to the idea of Olympiacos says a lot. That said, Merlo also reported that the former Club América player is considering Real Sociedad.

It is clear, then, that this is a completely real and open issue. It is an ongoing case, and we expect it to be resolved soon. We do not want to get ahead of ourselves, but it seems to be moving in a positive direction.

So now the question is whether Alvarez is the right alternative for Olympiacos to strengthen their midfield. The player is described as a perfect warrior for those derby matches, very strong defensively, but lacking quality in his technique.

In other news, Olympiacos ambassador Christian Karembeu called Armando Gonzalez a 'phenomenon' after his move to Piraeus.

He said, "For us, he is a phenomenon, and I believe his arrival gives us a little air, a little oxygen, because I believe we can properly use his potential."

“He is another option for the attack, and with him we will score more goals. Today we had chances, but we were not able to finish them, and I believe that is one of the elements he has,” he stressed on the Mexican television network TUDN.

The club’s strategic adviser added: “I think they can play together with El Kaabi and finish the plays. It’s still too early to say who can compete, but I think they can combine.”

"I believe Armando is already ready. He wants it; he is hungry, and that is normal because he is very young and his future is really bright."
