Olympiacos are eyeing Bastia's Alexandre Bi Zaouai, with the Greek club reportedly interested in the 21-year-old Ivorian midfielder. Here's what we know.

Olympiacos are in the midst of a season that began abruptly, with changes in the club's management, new signings, and some injury problems. However, the Greek side still seems to be planning ahead for potential transfers.

The latest rumor in the Greek press concerns Ivorian player Alexandre Bi Zaouai, who plays for Bastia in France's second division. The 21-year-old midfielder has previously been linked with the Greek club.

According to Africa Foot, Olympiacos remains interested in the player and continues to list him as a potential signing. Alexandre plays as an attacking midfielder and, according to a Sport24 report, is right-footed, quick, and technically gifted.

Africa Foot also reports that Olympiacos has already initiated preliminary contact with the French club that owns the player's rights, having monitored him closely for some time.

So far this season, the Ivorian has made seven appearances for Bastia and scored one goal. Last season, he made 38 appearances, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists. He also played as a winger in several matches.

As a result, he could be a versatile option for Alguacil, capable of developing into either an attacking midfielder behind the center-forward or a winger.

Alguacil has already shown that he values versatility. Rather than relying heavily on specific players, he wants to build a system that lets him deploy multiple players in different positions while keeping his squad fresh.

Indeed, Olympiacos' attack has been uncertain so far this season. This starts with the center-forward position, particularly after Ayoub El Kaabi suffered an injury. Although Mexican striker Armando González has made a strong case as the obvious choice for starting center-forward based on his performances and statistics, Alguacil has occasionally opted for Ukrainian forward Roman Yaremchuk, despite the latter struggling to make the desired impact.

There are also some questions surrounding the wing positions. Konstantinos Fortounis has occasionally played there, though it isn't his best position. Jota Silva has also played on the wing. While that is his natural position, he can also operate as an attacking midfielder behind the center-forward.

Beyond those options, however, there are no clear alternatives, particularly on the wings.

As for attacking midfielders, the Greek club does have several options, including Chiquinho, Gustavo Sá, and Yusuf Yazici, who has been injured for quite some time but appears to be close to returning to training.

We will see whether Olympiacos moves forward with a potential signing of the Ivorian player. Competition for his signature could be considerable, given the talent he has demonstrated over the past two seasons in French football.
