Real Betis is monitoring Olympiacos left-back Bruno Onyemaechi ahead of the January transfer window. The Nigerian defender has a contract until 2028.
Olympiacos left-back Bruno Onyeamaeci appears to be on LaLiga side Real Betis' shortlist ahead of the January transfer window, according to Sportal.
The Nigerian defender has a contract with the Piraeus club until the summer of 2028, but this does not rule out the Andalusians moving to acquire him.
The 27-year-old joined the Red and Whites in January 2025 and has made 45 appearances so far; this year, he has made six appearances with one goal in all competitions.
As for Betis' interest, the Spanish side has been closely monitoring his situation in recent months. The Andalusians currently have Fran Garcia and Junior Firpo on the left wing, so Betis' interest has not turned into an official offer to Olympiacos.
Olympiacos Already Signed a New Left-Back
Olympiacos has signed 18-year-old left-back Athanasios Christopoulos from Legia Warsaw. The Greek defender returns home as a free agent before the window closes.
The young defender, born on January 5, 2008, returns home after a successful two-year stint in Poland. There, he won two consecutive championships with Legia's second team (U19) and made significant appearances in the UEFA Youth League, including against PAOK's U19 team.
He took his first steps in football at the Asteris AKTOR academies, signing his first professional contract with Arkades at just 15. In June 2024, at 16, he moved to Warsaw, with Asteris retaining a resale percentage. Although he started his career as a central defender, he has now successfully established himself on the left wing of defense.
At the same time, Christopoulos has been a regular member of the national youth teams (U15, U17, and U19) since age 15, with strong performances at the international level.
This move is part of Olympiacos' broader strategy to strengthen the Greek element across all age groups. Although he was under contract until 2027, the player's desire to wear the Olympiacos jersey paved the way for his free-agent acquisition. The 18-year-old full-back is initially intended for the Red and Whites' B team and U19 team.
People expected Imanol Alguacil to start making changes quickly once he was named the new head coach. Although this move looks more like a Greek strategy, it is also clear that Bruno has not convinced the Basque coach so far.
