When the early odds came out for who was going to be lifting the trophy this coming Sunday, two nations were at most people's thoughts, France and Spain. The two sides have yet to disappoint,, with both teams unbeatenone their way to the final four, marking a third consecutive trip to the semis for Les Blues.

This World Cup has been a incredible spectacle to watch but one thing it has lacked is a true blockbuster game, two of the big nations going at it and both of these semi-finals are offering us just that with this game truly being a must-see affair.

Starting off with France, Les Blues have hardly put a wrong foot yet and they have truly eased into the final four, with it feeling like they haven't showcased to the world stage truly what their best is. Their 2-0 win over Morocco was another display of the French steaming through an established team without going that extra mile.

In no surprise the main man of this star-studded line-up is Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe. The French captain has 20 World Cup goals, one behind Messi's all-time record of 21, with him only 27 years of age. His eleven goal contributions have propelled Les Blues to the semis, Mbappé is the only player on record to register 10+ goal involvements at two different World Cups.

France eased their group, winning all three games against Iraq, Senegal and Norway and it isn't just Mbappe who is chipping in with the goals, PSG and Balon d'Or holder Ousmane Dembele has also scored five goals this World Cup, including a hattrick against Norway.

Les Blues' blistering attack has potentially overshadowed their equally impressive defence, with Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano one of the players of the tournament so far, delivering stellar performances at the back.

Spain have went slightly under the radar so far in tournament, but they've found themselves in the business end of the tournament and they will be hoping to recreate the successes of the EURO's, only two years ago.

Until Charles De Ketelaere's equaliser for Belgium in the quarter-final, Unai Simon and Spain had an unblemished defensive record, keeping five consecutive clean sheets that broke many World Cup records.

One of the main reasons that Spain have been written off by a few fans and not had the attention that sides like Argentina and France have had is that their start made some commentators think that their chances of winning trophy was slim, an infamous 0-0 draw to Cape Verde rocked the national team but with wins against Saudi Arabia and Uruguay they were able to top the group.

Mikel Merino has been the Spanish hero as recent with his two late winners coming against Portugal and Belgium, with him being the first player to score the winning goal in two World Cup knockouts as a sub.

Manager Jose De La Fuente has managed 13 World Cup and Euro matches without losing, the most by any manager, as well as this they have won the all seven knockout games under De la Fuente, giving Les Blues a real tough test ahead of them.

The main thing Spain has going into this game is that they haven't lost in 36 games, winning 27 and drawing 9, so the first World Cup final in 16 years will await them if they can push that record to 37.

Despite that fact that Kouadio Kone has thrived in the French team since coming in for the last few games, Aurelien Tchouameni is back in full training and back up to peak fitness so it is expected that he will come back into the side, replacing the Roma midfielder to accompany Adrien Rabiot in midfield.

For Spain, it will also be a mainly unchanged side, with the main difference coming in the wide areas. Alex Baena started on the left against Belgium. But it seems that Nico Williams is up to full fitness, and it is expected he will come in for the semi-final.

Pau Curbasi vs Kylian Mbappe

It is an El Classico battle for the tournament top scorer, Curbasi has been excellent this tournament but will have his biggest challenge against France with Les Blues having so many attacking options, but Mbappe will keep him busiest.

Lamine Yamal vs Lucas Digne

Yamal hasn't quite been able to have the tournament he would've dreamed off, but he has a golden opportunity to do it on such a big stage. The new-to-be PSG defender, Digne, has been on fine form but things may be different when he comes against the Barca winger.

Rodri vs Michael Olise

This feels like it will be a vital battle in the midfield and whoever comes out on top, it is hard to not see their nation being in the final. Rodri is so good at dictating games but Olise can make something happen out of nowhere so it will be a very fascinating battle.

France 1-2 Spain (After Extra-Time)

Going against the favourites and I think Spain will be the side to reach the final, it feels like a 36 game undefeated streak is too much to look past on and I feel that if France are to qualify they are going to need all of Dembele, Olise, Mbappe and Doue to show up.

Lamine Yamal will score the winner in my eyes, really propelling him for the wider world to see how much of a talent this teenager is.
