Angel Reese of the Atlanta Dream made WNBA history twice on Monday (8/24) against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Atlanta Dream All-Star Angel Reese made WNBA history twice on Monday (8/24) against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Reese set a WNBA single-game record with 26 rebounds against the Sparks. She also set the WNBA single-season record with 458 rebounds.

The Dream beat the Sparks by a final score of 78-71 to improve to 25-13. Reese finished with 11 points and 26 rebounds in 38 minutes while shooting 4-of-14 from the field.

"Last time I was here, I didn't miss any shots. Tonight, I couldn't hit s---, so I knew I was going be able to get them on the rebounding side," Reese said on the postgame show on Peacock. "I just want to be consistent for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win."

Reese is averaging 16.1 points and 12.4 rebounds per game in her first season with the Dream. The three-time All-Star is shooting 43.7% from the floor, 18.0% from beyond the arc and 73.8% from the foul line.

The 24-year-old Reese leads the WNBA in double-doubles (27).

The WNBA's all-time leading rebounder is the recently retired Tina Charles, who had 4,262 rebounds in 473 games over 14 seasons. Reese credited Charles -- who twice had games with 23 rebounds in the WNBA -- with giving her advice when they played against each other in the league.

"All the vets pour into me," Reese said after Monday's game. "The players that have come before me were able to do so many amazing things so I can be in this very moment right now. So I'm really grateful for them, especially Tina.

"I remember last year when I was playing against her and how she was giving me little keys to playing around the basket and doing things to make yourself consistent and try to be one of the best players. And I just want to do that every single night."

The Dream acquired Reese from the Chicago Sky before the season. Reese holds career averages of 14.8 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. She will play in the WNBA playoffs this year for the first time.

Reese has already established herself as one of the best rebounders in WNBA history. She could go down as the greatest rebounder of all time when it's all said and done.

"That's a talent," Dream star guard Allisha Gray said. "I'm just in awe watching her rebound."

Reese was the seventh overall pick in the 2024 draft out of LSU. She needs to improve her shooting percentage, but there is no denying how special she is on the glass.
