Atlanta Dream center Brionna Jones is expected to fully recover from right knee surgery and return this season, adding frontcourt depth behind Angel Reese.

Fresh off a win over the Toronto Tempo, the Atlanta Dream received another boost as center Brionna Jones is expected to make a full recovery and return this season, strengthening the team's roster for the second half of the WNBA campaign.

The Dream defeated the Tempo 102-77 on June 14, helping the franchise capture its ninth win of the season. Atlanta is fourth in the league standings, and they will receive their starting center at some point in the season according to reports.

WNBA writer Myles Ehrlich reported that the Dream center is making progress and is expected to make a full recovery.

"Atlanta Dream four-time All-Star center Brionna Jones continues to make significant progress in her rehabilitation following right knee surgery," Ehrlich tweeted on June 17 on X.

"Jones is expected to make a full recovery and is anticipated to resume team activities in the coming week," he added.

Contending

Atlanta entered the 2026 season with high expectations; however, the team became a championship contender with the acquisition of Angel Reese during the offseason. The team's frontcourt consists of Naz Hillmon, Madina Okot, Sika Kone, and Reese.

Jones's return will add more depth and consistency to the frontcourt, taking more pressure off Reese and Hillmon to rebound and score. Reese is leading the league in rebounds, averaging 12.3 rebounds and 14.6 points per game. On the opposite end Hillmon is averaging 8.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Last season, in Jones's first season with the Dream she averaged 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 52.7 percent from the field. She also averaged 77.3 percent from the charity stripe.

In 2025, the Atlanta center played all 44 games and averaged 26.6 minutes a game.

Jones is one of the team's most efficient scorers in the post and can help provide this team with more second-chance point opportunities.

The Dream

Atlanta is fifth in the league in the highest percentage of points based on three-pointers, with 31.5 percent. Rhyne Howard is leading the league with three steals per game, and Jordin Canada is second with two.

Howard is also third in three-pointers made per game at 42, while Canada is fifth in the league in assists per game at 6.8 per game.

The Dream will play the Indiana Fever back-to-back on June 18 and June 20 on prime-time television. Currently, the Fever leads the season series 1-0.
